International Rubber Conference Organisation Indian Rubber Institute
By careful selection of conference proposals and monitoring of events, the IRCO ensures that all conferences run by its member societies meet the very demanding requirements dictated by the IRCO and thus provide delegates with first-class conferences. All main IRCO conferences are held annually. In 2009, the IRCO Committee decided to re-introduce the RUBBERCON series, starting in 2011. This series provides more specialised events, but adhering to the high IRCO standards. Indian Rubber Institute (IRI) is a professional body of people working in the field of rubber and allied industries and it has got more than 2000 members and eight branches all over India. It has got affiliation with IRCO and ACS (American Chemical Society), USA. The objective of this institute is; * To award Certificates and Diplomas by examination. * To promote the dissemination of knowledge of all aspects of rubber science and technology by holding regular training classes, meetings, exhibitions, discussions, public lectures, publication of papers, periodicals, brochures, books and other literature. At present IRI is functioning in India from eight branches viz. Chennai, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata, Mumbai and Rajasthan. The institute has produced more than 1500 chartered Rubber Technologists to serve the Rubber Industries in India. On behalf of RUBBERCON 2015 organising committee, IRI and IRCO, we have great pleasure to invite you all to join the conference and make it a great success. Best Wishes P.K.Mohamed, Chief Convener RUBBERCON 2015
01
Dear All RUBBERCON 2015, an International Rubber Conference with the theme "Shaping the Future through Innovative Technology" is being organized by Indian Rubber Institute (IRI) in Hotel ITC Grand Chola, Chennai during 3 - 5 December, 2015. This is the official designated conference of the International Rubber Conference Organization (IRCO), London, UK. The International Rubber Conference Organization (IRCO) is an association of rubber societies around the world which plan the calendar for the main International Rubber Conferences.
Background of Indian Rubber Institute
The Indian Rubber Institute (IRI) is a professional body of the Indian rubber industry and it is the successor in India of Plastics and Rubber Institute (PRI), London, U.K. The PRI in 1992 merged with the Institute of Materials, U.K. This again merged with the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, U.K. and is now the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3). These mergers in the U.K. prompted the promotion of the concept of forming a national institute. Thus the Indian Rubber Institute (IRI) was formed and registered under the West Bengal Societies Act XXVI of 1961 at Kolkata on 25 May 1987. Under the auspices of the Institute of Rubber Industry, U.K. an international body was founded in 1921, an Indian Advisory Committee of the Institute was set up for the first time in India in 1946 with headquarters at Kolkata. The inaugural ceremony was held at the University College of Science, Kolkata under the Chairmanship of Mr. F. Brierley. During 1947 the Indian Advisory Committee was reconstituted into a full-fledged Indian Section of the Institute of Rubber Industry, U.K. The Indian Section of the IRI was fortunate to have the blessings of distinguished scientists, technologists and industrialists including Sir J. C. Bose, Sir Ramaswamy Mudaliar and others. The Late Dr. D. Banerjee acted as Honorary Secretary for several years. The IRI is a non-profit organisation engaged in the development of diverse areas of rubber technology education. Today the institute has got 8 branches and 13 sub branches. The institute has produced more than 1500 chartered rubber technologists by conducting courses and holding examinations. IRI is making efforts to reach its members to keep them abreast with the latest trends and developments, products and processes and to provide them a platform for interaction with the global rubber industry.
