Neal E. Tyner80, of Paradise Valley, passed away unexpectedly July14, 2010 in Voss, Norway, while on a cruise with his wife,Pia. Born January 30, 1930 in Grand Island, Nebraska,Neal was educated in York, Nebraska, graduated fromthe University of Nebraska and received an AssociateGraduate Degree from the New York School of Finance.

He served with the U.S.Marine Corps in Koreawith FirstMarine Division, 1st Regiment and wasrecommended for a commission as Second Lieutenantand transferred to Division Intelligence and earnedfour battle stars. He achieved the rank of Captain in thereserves ultimately commanding a reserve Company.

Neal was an Investment Associate withWhite,Weld& Co., New York City; Bankers Life Insurance Companyof Nebraska, holding various positions in investmentdepartments and retired as Chairman and CEO ofAmeritas Life Insurance Corp. (successor to Bankers

Life Nebraska) and which has now become part of UNIFI GROUP. He retired February 1,1995 and moved to Paradise Valley, AZ and established NET CONSULTANTS to assist startup companies seeking capital, financing and management advice. He also wrote a novel,“Just a ShortWalk on the Beach.”

Neal served in leadership positions on numerous corporate, professional, associationand civic boards. He was Trustee, University of Nebraska Foundation; Chairman Emeritus,Ameritas Life Insurance Corp;Member, Board of Directors Union Bank & Trust Company,Lincoln, NE.

Survivors include his wife, Pia Tyner of Paradise Valley, AZ; daughter, Karen RedrowHamre (David) of Ft.Worth, TX; son, Dr.Morgan Tyner of Scottsdale, AZ; stepchildren,James Ruth, New York, Christopher Anastasoff (Amy), Denver and Lisa Hunt (Kim)of Toronto; grandchildren, Grant and Colin Redrow; step grandchildrenMadison andSamantha Hunt. His brother Jerry Tyner preceded him in death.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27th at Scottsdale Bible Chapel,7901 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale, followed byMilitary honors at The NationalMemorialCemetery of Arizona, 23029 N.
