“Oral health is essential to general health and well-being and can be achieved”.
Message
One component of an oral health plan is a set of measureable and achievable objectives on key indicators of oral health burden, oral health promotion, and oral disease prevention.
Oral Health Plan
Designed to serve as a roadmap for improving health of all people in US
Objectives for key structures, processes, and outcomes related to improving oral health
Healthy People 2010
Vision is to “advance the general health and well-being of all programs by creating critical partnerships at all levels of society to engage in programs to promote oral health and prevent disease”
A National Call to Action to Promote Oral Health, 2003
Call to action reflected in HP 2020◦ To promote oral health◦ To improve quality of life ◦ To eliminate oral health disparities
Healthy People 2020
Many changes added to HP 2020 – many of which Nevada “Does Not Collect (DNC)”
There were new objectives added so no national or Nevada statues
Also changes due to age breakdown changes (i.e. – 2 to 4, 6 to 8, Aged 15 now are 3 to 5, 6 to 9, 13 to 15)
Data is published in April 2012 Burden Document

4 Objectives exceed the National Target 5 Objectives are “NEW” 11 Objectives fall short of National Target 13 Objectives the data is “DNC” or the data
is being collected but not reported**
