Stay in fashion and in focus withglasses from Stepensky’s Opticians By CHARLES PAULLIN@CPAULLINNBH
NEW BRITAIN — The business has been providing quality, personal eyewear care to cus-tomers for nearly 100 years.
Stepensky’s Opticians, now located at 513 South Main St., is managed by John Stepensky Jr., a third generation family member, along way his father, to run the business after it was opened by his grandfather in downtown New Britain in 1929.
“We take care of our custom-ers,” said Stepensky, a licensed optician.
Eye exam results from any-where can be taken to the mom and pop store where they can quickly make their own lenses to go with the wide vari-ety of frames they sell.
“Step one, we see what your needs are,” said Stepensky on the process, before finding the right frames for the right prescriptions of people. “Some prescriptions are very strong, we would choose the correct fame for each individual’s need,” he added.
The optician has all brands of lenses as well as advanced lens technology through Varilux brand progressive lenses, Crizal anti-glare lenses and
Transitions light adjusting lens-es.
The major brands of eye-glass frames of Maui Jim, Ray-Ban and Oakley sunglass-es are available, as well as, glasses by Prada, Coach, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Polo. Boutique eyewear from Lafont, Fysh, MODO are among the high fashion frames available. Budget frames are also avail-able among the 1,600 frames Stepensky’s has at all times.
All brands of contact lenses are available including bifocal lenses, lenses that correct for
astigmatism and gas perme-able lenses. All brands from Bausch & Lomb, Vistakon, Ciba and Coopervision are carried.
“We constantly are expand-ing our inventory for new trends,” said Stepensky on his products flexibility and ability to stay with the latest trends and technology. “As the fash-ions change, we constantly bring new styles in on a month-ly basis.”
Stepensky’s will go the extra mile to ensure customer satis-faction.
“We fit eyewear, we don’t sell it,” Stepensky said. “No patient walks out of that door unhappy. We wouldn’t let it happen,” he added.
As a way to keep costs down, Stepensky’s relies on word of mouth referrals to advertise. He also doesn’t have addition-al staff beyond himself, his father, who also a licensed optician and will still come in to help, and a contact lens spe-cialist to fit specialty contacts.
“I can offer quality, name brand eyewear for reasonable prices and with unmatched cus-tomer service,” said Stepensky.
