JULES HOROWITZ REACTOR
• CVR takes a part on design and construction of a new high performance test reactor
• Built by an international consortium lead by CEA
• Cadarache, France
RESEARCH REACTOR LVR-15The LWR-15 is a light water cooled and moderated tank reactor and serves as a radiation source for:
Material testing at water loops and rigs Radio-pharmaceutical production Silicon doping Experiments in nuclear and applied
physics using beam tubes Experiments for medical purposes Open for other applications on case by
case basis
Characteristics of LWR-15
maximum reactor power 10 MW
maximum thermal neutron flux in the core 1.5 x 1018 n/m2s
maximum fast neutron flux in the core 3 x 1018 n/m2s
thermal neutron flux in irradiation channel in reflector
9 x 1017 n/m2s
RESEARCH REACTOR LR-0 The light water zero power reactor LR-0 is used for determination of
neutron-physical characteristics of VVER and PWR type reactor lattices and shielding with UO2 or MOx fuel.
The maximum reactor power is 5 kW Thermal neutron flux of 1013 n/m2s.
