NewsfromY4,Y5&Y6AsweheadintothePinaltwoweeksofthehalfterm,thechildreninYears4and5havebeenthoroughlyenjoyingtheirtopicsofExtremeWeatherandWater.LastweekthechildreninYear4hadaspecialworkshopwiththeFreshwaterTheatrecompanytohelpthemunderstandthephysicalprocessesbehindmajorgeologicalevents.ThechildreninYear6thisweekwillalsosittheirKeyStage2SATspapers:thechildrenhavepreparedthoroughlyandwithhugesmilesontheirfaces.Wecouldn'tbeprouderofthemall! InclusionNewsTheschoolhavebeenworkingtogetherwiththelocalauthoritytoimprovechildren’sattendanceacrosstheschool.Itisessentialthatyourchildarrivesbefore9amandattendseverydaythattheyarewellenough

SportsNewsThisweekinPEchildrenhavebeenexploringtheirskillsincricketanddevelopinggymnasticapparatusandsequenceskills.

ThisweekchildrenfromYear4tookpartintheannualLewishamboroughtenniscompetition.AshmeadcameouttopoftheirgroupandreachedthesemiPinals,gaininganoverall4thplaceoutofthe15Lewishamschoolsthatcompeted,justmissingoutbyafewpointson3rdplace!Welldonetoallinvolved.Welookforwardtohopefullycompetingintheyears5&6tenniscompetitionnextweek.

OurSaturdayleaguefootballsquadarealsocompetingfortheBlackheathCupandhadtheirPirstmatchesthisweekend! RachelAzra

NewsfromNurseryandReceptionWehopeyouenjoyedthelongweekendandwithonlyafewmoreweeksleftinthistermwe’rewellonourwaytosummer!LotsofamazinglearninghasbeenhappeningoverthepastcoupleofweeksinEYFSandtherainhasbroughtussomeunexpecteddiscoveries.ThechildrenacrossEYFShaveenjoyedcatchingrainindifferentpotsandpansexplainingitsoundedlikepopcorn!Aswellasthisaninterestinminibeasts,especiallybutterPliesandcaterpillars,iscontinuingtotakeoverEYFS.Theslugs,snails,andwoodlicehavebecomeespeciallyinterestingandmanychildrenarespendinglongamountsoftimesimplyobservingthesesmallcreatures.NurseryhavethoroughlyenjoyedpaintingandcreatingtheirownfruitbasketsandfruitcollagesinresponsetoHanda’sSurpriseandReceptionDandRhaveproducedsomewonderfulwritingthisweekinresponsetoTheHungryCaterpillarstoryandTheButterPlyLifeCycle.BesuretospotallofthislovelylearningonourdisplaysinclassorinourLearningJourneybooks,whichyoucanlookthroughanyFridaymorningduringourreadingsession.Finally,weespeciallyenjoyedusingthegiantparachutethisweek!It’smagicaltowatchitballoonupanddown–somanysmilingfaceandbrighteyes.Awonderfulcollaborativeexperience.
