ES month presents a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the fantasticcontributions of our Education Support Staff. The theme for this year is
Recognition and Respect. Our wonderful ES staff will be treated to a special
morning tea. We will also have an ES staff featured in the newsletter each
week. This week it is Jackie Waycott. Jackie gets our book club out each
term, organises the library, cares for the fish tank and works with children in
the Prep and Grade Three area. She is not only a great staff member but she
is also an active community member. Thank you Jackie for everything you do!

Each troll, quite rightly, insists that you pay a trolltoll. Before you can cross their bridge, you have to give them half of the cakes you arecarrying, but as they are kind trolls, they each give you back a single cake. How manycakes do you have to leave home with to make sure that you arrive at Grandma's withexactly 2 cakes? Answer in next weeks newsletter

Student SafetyPlease take the time to regularly remind your child/ren about safety, especially when going to and from
school. Here are the important points to mention:
Do not to talk to strangers and never accept a ride from a stranger, or accept lollies
or gifts from a stranger.
Immediately report any issue or problem you may have when going to or from
school, to your mum and dad, or to your teacher, the Principal, Assistant Principal or
office staff. Always get permission from mum or dad before going to play with a friend after
school and always let mum and dad know where you will be and what time you
will be home.
We advise that, wherever possible, children should travel to or from school with an adult or with their friends,
rather than travel alone.

On the 28thof August we had a Winter Theme Day. Firstly we had to start with our grade and I started
with Mrs Baird. We watched The Snowman. As we were watching The Snowman, Mrs Baird said, If you
want to go get a sheet you can colour in The Snowman . Secondly we went to Miss Perkins to make a
snowflake out of paper. We needed just our scissors to do the
symmetry in the paper snowflake. First, we did a big snowflake andmine looked like 50 stars floating in the sky, not just any sky, a sky
in space. Then we had to make a small snowflake and I didnt get to
make one so I said in my head, Oh, well. I had so much fun that I
wanted to explode. So I went out to have some lunch. As I was
having lunch I was thinking what else well be doing today. I wish we
could do this every year. I love Winter Theme Day.

On Thursday we were dressed up in our Winter clothes and we had a
great time. First we all quietly entered the library and were given an
allocated seat. Next Mrs Johnstone read us an amazing book, it wasabout a mitten and some animals. There was a mouse and a frog, also
a rabbit, a fox, wolf and last of all a bear. Next we filled our
mittens with unifix. Paige and I only got 20 unifixes. It was amazing
fun, great and frozen! By Makayla Oliver
I enjoyed going on Starfall the most because I got to print out a
snowman picture and its a song too. My second best activity was
exercising because I walked along the balance beam and walked across the bridge. I got 28 blocks into one
of my gloves, I went to Miss Perkins and got to make a snowflake.
Next I went to Mrs Hughes and made a book, it was a book about
a snowman. On Winter day I chose to wear my penguin onesie to school with
my beanie and gloves to keep me nice and warm and it was
fantastic and good. By Ashtyn Williams
BOOM when I suddenly got into Mrs Bairds room I was shocked
because I was wondering what we were doing. When we sat on the
floor I got to sit on the beanbag. We were watching a Winter
movie. It was really funny because when it was snowing the boy
quickly got dressed. He rushed outside and he finally built a
snowman. Creak it was the Snowman. The funny part was when
he got on the motorbike and drove around. It was really fun. Ithought the flying snowman was funny. I felt happy. By Tahlia

Yesterday the Prep, 1, 2s had a Winter Day. My favourite was
Mrs Prossor because we did some exercises. Meanwhile the Preps
and Grade 1s were doing
their activities. Well, the
exercises were going
through shapes, walking
over timber, hopping over
a ladder and playing hopscotch. Lots of people were slow but I was
patient. Then I learned a new game. Oh, and I was wearing black
boots, a blue scarf and a white jumper. It was very exciting and I
was very pleased I learned the game. If I had the time I would tell
you all about it. By Vanessa Pettiford
