‘Tell Them From Me’– Student Surveys
This term our school, like many other public schools
in the state, will participate in a Department of
Education initiative: the Tell Them From Me student
feedback survey. The survey measures factors that
are known to affect academic achievement and other
student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide
survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and
effective teaching practices. This term students in
Years 4-6 will be participating in the survey.
More information about the survey is available at:
http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au
The survey is a great opportunity for our students
to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on
what they think about school life, how engaged they
are with school and the different ways that
teachers interact with them. Schools in Australia
and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help improve how they do things at
school.
The survey is confidential, is conducted online and
will typically take less than 30 minutes to complete.
It will be administered during school hours between
21st March and 7th April. Participating in the
survey is entirely voluntary.
A consent form about the survey is being sent home
with students. If you do not want your child or
children to participate, please return the form to
school by Friday 17th March. Copies of the form
and FAQs are available from: http://
surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents.
Reminders
Uni of NSW Competition monies due to the
office by Friday 17th March (no extensions)
Please ensure your child brings a hat to
school to protect them from UV rays.
LMBR
This year DNPS, and DET schools across NSW,
will implement the ‘Learning Management and
Business Reform’ (LMBR) program.
The LMBR program will deliver modern, inte-
grated IT systems to better support the many
aspects of teaching and learning in NSW Public
Schools. The new systems will provide flexibil-
ity, efficiency and sustainability across the De-
partment. The program will offer, amongst
other things, improved accuracy in reporting
financial operations and more efficient tracking
of student information.
Sue Nisbet, Susi Mulham and I will attend a
number of training sessions before the program
goes live on 24th July. You will be kept updated
on important changes to systems and proce-
dures as they are implemented.
Regards,
Megan Hunter Principal

Thud! That was the sound of Jemima falling off
her motor bike. “Damn it,” she thought to herself.
She picked up her motorbike but it wouldn’t start.
She went to grab her two way but it wasn’t there–
then she saw it– smashed to pieces on the ground.
It looked as if she was stuck.
By Sophie Murray When I got to the hospital I was taken to get an x-
ray. My leg was way out of whack! I wasn’t allowed
to move it for a month. My head was spinning like a
spinning wheel. I felt so embarrassed when Mum
raced in, screaming my name as she ran. When she
found me she scooped me up in a big hug.
By Jemma Smith I woke in the camp, not knowing what had
happened. Then I remembered the plane. I got up
and saw my fellow survival team. They must have
been knocked out from the force of the crash, like
the rest of the people. Slowly, I got up. The pain
was unbearable. I reached out for my rucksack. It
was only then that I realised that the plane had
landed on the camp!
By Hannah Dunmore Brmmm– the motorbike revved up, ready for the
race. Beep– we were off. First we went over some
little bumps, then through the bog pit and finally
the gigantic ramp. I floored it over the ramp, and
flew into the air. I fell off and rolled– screaming all
the way…
Suddenly, I fell down a cliff. I blacked out. When I
woke up, I discovered that the motorbike was still
on top of me.
By Max Caruso One night, the lighthouse keeper was doing some
work. The crowd at the pub was making too much
noise for the lighthouse keeper. He shut the
window. Everything went dark in the light house.
The light house couldn’t warn the ships….they were
in terrible danger.
By Dustin Lawson.
“Bang!”. Lightning hit the power cable. The
traffic controller slowly walked to inspect the
damage. It was severed, and when he went back
to the storeroom to check if there was a spare
wire, he was out of luck.
Suddenly a car came sliding off the road, just
avoiding another car. In fact, a whole line of cars
were coming his way. The traffic controller was
in big trouble…
By Tom Charlton. Ange is looking out of a coffee shop window when
she sees a train coming from out of nowhere. It
looks like a passenger train. Ange takes a sip of
her coffee, then looks in the opposite direction.
She sees another train hurtling along the tracks.
“Oh no!” she cries. What is she going to do?
By Charlee Pitt We finally got to the plane. We were walking up
the stairs when a man in a black suit barged in
front of us. Grandma was screaming, “Watch it,
fella, or I’ll barge into you!” but Billy calmed her
down and we got onto the plane.
We sat in our seats and the plane started up. The
air hostess was blabbering on about... “If the
plane starts to crash, we should put life jackets
on.” It was really boring but we all got through it.
When the plane was up in the air I really needed
to use the loo. I got up and walked down the
middle of the plane. I got to the toilet but it was
occupied. I was about to go back to my seat when
I heard someone talking in Chinese. I stayed
where I was and listened. The man inside kept
talking. Luckily I knew how to speak Chinese.
I could only make out a few words of what he
said. It sounded like “I will ride...a...donkey...to…
the ..apartment of ...chicken.
Actually, I had no idea what he was saying…
