One day workshop on ‘Competency Based Training’ was organised for the trainers of NISA on 20.10.16. Dr. Harsh Sharma, Professor ASCI (Administrative Staff College of India), Hyderabad and Dr. Nikhil J Gupta, IPS, Dy. Director/SVP NPA, Hyderabad were invited to enlight the faculties of NISA with their enrich experience and ideas. Competency based personnel training is relatively new to the field of education, but this not imply that it is a new idea altogether. Competency based training stresses systematic application of learned skills in work settings which approximate and in some cases, match exactly the post training occupational situation closer to the field requirement of the trainees. This is an extremely positive influence in preparation of professional personnel. There is a significant divergence between competency based and ‘traditional’ teaching methodology.
