Launched in Australia in 2001, the Entrepreneur Of The Year program has recognised over 1,400 Australian entrepreneurs for their vision and achievement. Globally, the program acknowledges around 10,000 entrepreneurs each year.
The overall 2016 national winner will represent Australia at the 2017 EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ awards in Monte Carlo.

CategoriesNominations are sought at the regional level in four competitive and two recognition categories:
• Emerging• Industry• Services• Technology• Social entrepreneur: Non-competitive
at the regional level but competitive at the national level.
• Champion of Entrepreneurship: Awarded to a leader with a long-term record of outstanding entrepreneurial achievement. This award is non-competitive at regional and national levels.
Judging critieriaThe independent judges assess each nominee using six criteria. Fifty percent focuses on the

Eligibility criteriaTo be eligible for the program, you must be either:
• An owner-manager who is primarily responsible for the recent performance of a privately held business that is at least two years old.
• If from a listed company:
A founder of a company who is still actively involved in the management of the company or retains a 51% ownership; or
An entrepreneur primarily responsible for the performance of the business for a minimum of two years who is also a material shareholder of the company.
• Social entrepreneur: An entrepreneur who is primarily responsible for directing the activities of a social enterprise that is at least two years
