March 8 Meetings Chevron Future Leaders - Entrepreneurship • Teens were introduced to entrepreneurship principles (problem,
audience, and solution) and began developing their ideas. Teen Council – Golf • Launched the Teen Council Intro to Golf Program. • Jabir Bilal (Joe Bartholomew Golf Course) and Chip Patterson
(First Tee) spoke about golf’s relevance, value, industry, and sport.
Chevron Future Leaders Job Shadow Opportunity March 20 at The Wild Life Reserve • Amaya Cannon and Russell Tanner
interned at The Wild Life Reserve (a retail and collaborative design space).
• They participated behind the scenes at the Southern Design Week Fashion Show at the Joy Theatre (sewed, steamed, and helped prep the models, and modeled).
• Both teens were invited back to assist with a NOLA Fashion Week Runway Show on March 25.

Chevron Future Leaders Entrepreneurship Events March 21 – 4.0 Schools • Non-profit incubator for developing
entrepreneurs with education-based endeavors.
• Learned about creating an effective pitch covering problems, pathways, and heroes.
• Seven groups made pitches. • Pitch winner: Priority App, created by
Christy Kassa and Tyler Johns, is a prioritizing app that limits social media website access based upon the completion of homework or other defined tasks.
March 23 – New Orleans Entrepreneur Week • Christy and Tyler were invited to present at
the 4.0 Schools Pitch Event during the NOEW.
• A potential funder approached them after the event to learn more about Priority App.

• Movies in the Park hosted by Teen Council Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 at Annunciation Park, 800 Race St. Pre-show activities begin at 6:30 (karaoke, field games, and fitness activities led by Fit NOLA Parks instructors). The movie begins at sunset (7:15-7:45pm).

Teen Service Extravaganza Saturday, April 18, 9am–1pm In partnership with Youth Rebuilding New Orleans Join teen teams for service projects that will beautify, renew & improve our city! Take part in painting, landscaping, light construction, and general clean-up projects around the city in honor of Global Youth Service Day.
Teen Sports Extravaganza Sunday, April 19, 1-5pm Joe W. Brown Park and Rec Center, 5601 Read Blvd. Bring your friends and have fun with a day of play with 21 sports activities for teen. Win medals and prizes! Events are free and open to the public. A NORDC Teen Council application must be completed to participate. Lifeguard Prerequisite Challenge ages 15+ Treme Pool – April 10 & 17, 6-8pm Joe W. Brown Pool – April 13 & 27, 6-8pm This is an opportunity to perform required lifeguarding skills and receive feedback from certified lifeguards.

at Treme & Joe W. Brown Pools. • Last Day to Apply and Swim Test is Sunday, April 26
Swim Test Requirements are: • Swim 300 yards • Tread water for 2 minutes without using hands • Sprint 15 yards, get a 10 lb. brick from the bottom of the
deep end, swim back to the shallow end and climb out of the pool with the brick in 1 minute and 40 seconds or less.
Please note: Those who pass the swim test but are not certified will be required to attend scheduled weekend-long certification class in April. Those who need to be re-certified will be required to attend one-day class re-certification class in April.
