Time for a Check-Up!
Word Of Faith Times - page 5
O ur theme for this year is: The Year of
Fulfillment: Ideas to Implementation
to Impact. So now that we are more than
halfway through the year, how are you doing? What
gets done is not always what is EXPECTED but
what is INSPECTED! It is time for you to do some
personal inspection on how you are doing with your
personal goals for the year.
Motivation gets you going, but HABIT keeps you
going. However, it requires the “D” word, DISCI-
PLINE, in order to establish the habits that yield suc-
cess. Self-discipline is the ability to do what you
know you need to do when you need to do it, whether
or not you feel
like it! Does that
mean your suc-
cess is totally left
up to you? Not
exactly, as Chris-
tians we believe in invoking God’s blessings and help
in our lives. So I suggest that you pray as if it were all
up to GOD, and then work as though it is all up to
YOU!
Success does not come in a day; it comes daily!
Yes, the secret to success is found in the discipline of
your daily routine! Self-discipline takes you places
and keeps you there while your enthusiasm builds.
Your job will inevitably require you to do things you
won’t necessarily feel like doing. This is where you
must apply self-discipline and complete the task, re-
gardless of how you feel.
It is not what you intend to do or what you know to
do that determines your future. It is whether or not
you discipline yourself to pay the price, over and
over, until you finally obtain your objective!
Those who are trusted to manage themselves and
their time are ultimately given more responsibility.
Discipline allows us to master our time, emotions and
desires. We all get the impulse to delay doing things
we don’t particularly look forward to doing. But the
urge to procrastinate is suppressed by the disciplined
person.
Self-discipline is needed to delay personal gratifica-
tion. It is needed to organize your work area. It is also
needed to work on your highest priority task!
There are days when I don’t feel like going to work
or completing something that I know needs to get
done. But I have to override those feelings and do
what I know is
right to do. Like-
wise, you must
apply self-
discipline and
decide to do what
needs to be done, regardless of how you feel. The
more you practice this, the more natural it will be-
come. But feelings are fickle. Don’t let them control
you or else you’ll become fickle.
The purpose of discipline is mainly to create a
habit! You are a living expression of the habits you
develop, positive or negative. So discipline yourself
to live your dream. Discipline yourself to finish what
you’ve started. Discipline yourself to do what you are
assigned to do. Don’t blame anyone else for interfer-
ing with your discipline; that’s your responsibility.
That’s why it’s called self-discipline! Employing self-
discipline alone will put you head and shoulders
above your colleagues! Let’s finish what we began at
the beginning of the year. This is the year of fulfill-
ment. Don’t let it catch you unfulfilled!
You are a living expression of the habits
you develop, positive or negative.

T he Elite 31 Mentoring Program was cre-
ated by Pastors Kirstie and Kristie Bronner to
develop young women into the virtuous
women of God that they are called to be by exposing
them to events, activities, and teaching that provide a

nancial Literacy. They also enjoyed a weekend retreat,
an Atlanta Ballet performance, a trip to the Botanical
Gardens and a culinary arts experience. The Elite 31
vision is to nurture young women in need of multi-
faceted personal development by providing exposure,
experiences, teaching and mentorship that will impact
lives forever.

Spotting Eye Problems
Signs that a child may have vision problems include:
constant eye rubbing
extreme light sensitivity
poor focusing
poor visual tracking (following an object)
abnormal alignment or movement of the eyes
(after 6 months of age)
chronic redness of the eyes
chronic tearing of the eyes
a white pupil instead of black
In school-age children, other signs to watch
for include:
being unable to see objects at a distance
having trouble reading the blackboard
squinting
difficulty reading
sitting too close to the TV
Watch your child for signs of poor vision or crossed
eyes. If you notice any eye problems, have your child
examined right away so that the problem doesn't be-
come permanent. If caught early, eye conditions often
can be corrected. — From KidsHealth.org

Significance of Detecting Vision
Problems in the School-Age Child Vision screening programs in public schools detect
possible problems with a student’s vision or eye
health. An estimated 80 percent of children do not
have a vision exam
prior to preschool.
School failure and
negative life
outcomes may
result from
undetected vision
problems.
Approximately one in 20 preschool children ages 3
to 5 has a vision defect severe enough to require
professional attention. Additionally, one in four
children of school age has a vision problem. The
incidence factor increases to almost one in three by
12th grade. About one in 500 school children may be
disadvantaged in his/her schoolwork because of a
vision defect that will not correct to better than 20/70.

Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott structurally utilize what
they call the Marriage Mentoring Triad. The Triad
consists of 3 tracks or categories that represent the
condition of couple’s marriages. They are Preparing,
Maximizing, and Repairing. The Prepare track is de-
signed primarily for newly married couples; within the
first year or two of their marriage. It is also relevant to
engaged couples that have wedding dates set for less
than a year away. The Prepare Track can provide as-
sistance in addition to the premarital counseling that
ALL couples should receive before getting married.
Early preparation can prevent the need for later repara-
tion. The Maximize Track is for couples who already
have a fairly good marriage, but desire to go to another
level. Our Bishop, Dr. Dale C. Bronner frequently
says “good is always the enemy
of best.” We should not let what
has gone well distract us from
continuing to grow, mature and
develop as married couples. The
latter will always be greater
when we let God position us for
greatness. The Repair track is
geared towards married couples
who are struggling more than
usual and willing to make changes so that their mar-
riage can be healed. In addition to these 3 tracks, we
have added a 4th to the Covenant Keepers Ministry. In
a discussion that I had with our Bishop a few years
ago, he asked me to give some attention to blended
families. Therefore, due to that request and the tremen-
dous need that does exist, our 4th track is called the
Blended track. It addresses issues specific to couples
who are in a 2nd or 3rd marriages (sometimes even
higher) and have children from prior relationships.
They need special training to operate and function in
this new family structure. In essence, the Covenant
Keepers structure is a Triad plus one. We call the CK
track system The Quad.
COVENANT KEEPERS CORNER “The Team and the Triad plus 1” WOF Times Article by Dr. Charles Houston.
The vision of Covenant Keepers is “Mentoring marriages to health by making spouses whole.” In order to do that we had
to pray and assemble a team of strong married WOF couples. The CK Leadership Team consists of couples who have
been married less than 5 years and some who have been married almost 40 years. Each one brings a unique story and a
particular strength to the marriage mentoring arena. One thing that they all have in common is the desire to see married
couples not just survive but grow and thrive in the covenant God gave them.

For the past three years, the WOF Ushers Golf Team
was just a few guys who wanted to go out and hit a
few balls. The
numbers have
grown from eight
to around sixty
players of all skill
sets: from young
to seasoned, male
to female, non-
player to low 70
shooters. The last
two events sum-
moned players
from other
churches as well
as civic groups
and sponsors that
wanted to help us with the cause. Just look what the
Lord has done! This year, the group sponsored a char-
ity tournament to benefit a college scholarship fund
for our Youth Ushers. It was held at the Frog Golf
Club, an 18-hole championship golf course in Villa
Rica, GA.
Here are a few remarks from some of the partici-
pants: Gregg Bonton: “The latest Word of Faith Usher
Golf Tournament was the best I have attended. This
year the food was great and the Frog Golf Club is
beautiful. We were able to complete the course with
all players and all events were complete in record
time. We had approximately 56 players and between
swings, we had good fellowship. It also gave the non
WOF members a chance to see how we conduct our-
selves outside the church walls. We even got com-
ments from the course staff about our great organiza-
tion and conduct. Looking forward to the next one.”
C.J.: “I have played in many tournaments in my life,
but to be a part of a Christian sponsored WOF event is
just special. I look forward to playing in the next
event. Please don’t leave me out!”
Steve, Frog Golf Club Manager: “We host many
events all year long, but I must say that I was pleas-
antly surprised at your promotional materials, as well
as, the sponsors that participate in your events.
You guys can come back anytime to play our course
and bring as many people as you wish. And the ladies
were phenomenal!”
And there it is...Not only can we get together for a
family-friendly activity in a relaxed atmosphere with
amazing scenery, but we are now raising funds to sup-
port deserving students, Youth Ushers. We like to
think of it as a hole in one for God! I can only give
praise to our Lord and Savior for His gifts and bene-
fits as He receives the glory.

More than 1.1 million anglers of all ages fish in Geor-
gia. There are over 4,000 miles of trout streams,
12,000 miles of warm water streams and 10 public
fishing areas in Georgia. Bass, catfish, bream and crap-
pie are some of the popular catches at the lakes and
fishing holes in this region. Depending on where you
fish, you may need to purchase a fishing license and if
so, you just go online and print it out! Fishing with the
family or friends makes for great “fish tales” and fun,
long lasting memories. Visit georgiawildlife.com for
additional information.
Looking for a quaint and quiet spot? Try Cumber-
land Island, GA, one of the largest undeveloped is-
lands along the Atlantic coast. You would first need
to travel to St. Marys, GA near Jacksonville, FL and
board the ferry to the island. There, you’ll discover
many historic sites, cultural ruins, as well as, plants
and animal communities. And that includes sea tur-
tles, horses and alligators! There’s also 50 miles of
hiking trails, biking, beachcombing and bird watch-
ing with over 335 species of birds. Call (912) 882-
4336 for more information.
Only 90 miles north of Atlanta, Blue Ridge is located
among the 106,000 acres of the Chattahoochee National
Forest. There’s something there for everyone including:
art galleries, antique shops, rafting on the Ocoee River,
picking blueberries, horseback riding or hiking on the
Appalachian Trail and all within the panoramic view of
the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you’re in the mood for a
lazy train ride to Tennessee, catch the Blue Ridge Scenic
Railway alongside the beautiful Toccoa River.
