Intergen News:
Do you have any favorite recipes that you make at
home with your child? We are looking for some
great recipes that are easy and quick to use on
Monday afternoons at “Cooking Club”.
November is a bittersweet month. The Long-awaited arrival of John Hoover will happen this month, but his
arrival also means that I will not see our KELC staff, children, and families for a while. As I prepare for this
time away, please know that Sara Kelly will be here to assist you with any of your needs or questions in my
absence. Robin Jones will be her backup if for some reason Sara is unavailable. As our holiday season kicks off
this month with Thanksgiving, I hope you all have a great holiday season and get to enjoy it with those that
matter most to you and your family! Happy Thanksgiving, Jeni Hoover

Happy, Happy Birthday to You!
Healthy Tip of the Month:
This month we challenge you to…
Think of healthy ways to adapt those
holiday recipes. For example, use
alternative sugars or no-sugar-added
ingredients as substitutes.
We need your help with Swimming:
We could use your help when we having swimming to assist in
cutting down the amount of time we spend changing and getting
ready for swimming to ensure the children actually get to swim for
an hour.
• Hooded bath towels would be appreciated as they are
easier to carry.
• Easy on/off clothes and shoes to ensure children can be
self-sufficient in changing themselves in a timely manner.
From Your Child’s Teachers:
From the Classroom:
October was a very busy month as we enjoyed two ELI trips to Cleveland and also a day of Fall Festival Fun here at
Kendal. Our first trip into Cleveland was to the Children’s Museum which is always a big hit since there are always so many
great hands on experiences for the children. The children really enjoy the physical challenge of climbing up the rain cycle
climbing structure. Our second trip was to the Art Museum where the children got to study portraits with a focus on facial
expressions. While looking at a portrait titled “The Impala,” which was of a woman seated in a car looking forward with a very
stolid face, the children were asked how they thought she was feeling and why. Most agreed she looked sad, but we had a very
wide range of reasons as to why. One child stated it was because she wanted a boyfriend, while another child thought maybe it
was because she did not like the bow in her hair. Our Fall Fun Day was enjoyed by all as we played a variety of games in the
classroom such as pumpkin bowling, pin-the-nose-on-a-jack-o-lantern, and turning each other into a mummy! We finished the
day with our annual parade to show off all our wonderful costumes. We would like to thank all the parent and resident volunteers
who helped out during all these events.
With the upcoming Holidays we would like to take the opportunity to turn our focus towards family and all the wonderful
things for which we are thankful.
We are very thankful you share your children with us!
