MILITARY NEWS AND NOTES
Smart Steps In A Military Move
(NAPSI)—According to Department of Defense data, about one in three military
personnel moves every year. If you‘re among them this year, heeding 18 hints can
help make the move smoother:
Ahead Of Time
• First, schedule your move by making an appointment with the military base
property transportation office.
• Inform the base landlord or housing office of your departure and arrival.
• Estimate how big a truck you’ll need and reserve it.
• Get boxes and supplies for packing.
• Pack out-of-season and non-essential items early.
• Lighten your load. Donate unwanted items to charity or hold a garage sale.
• Consider travel arrangements for any pets.
• Make copies of medical records, birth certificates and so on. Store all needed
documents in one place.
• Change your address with the post office, banks, credit card companies and
magazines.
• Call service providers and utilities to sched-
ule turn-on.
• Secure moving-day help.
• Work with companies that understand each
military branch‘s different rules and regula-
tions, especially if you‘re involved in a quick
turnaround move made with little notice. Pen-
ske Truck Rental, for example, has a special-
ized toll-free call center at (844) 4TROOPS
((844) 487-6677) to assist active and veteran
members of the U.S. military and their fami-
lies with do-it-yourself moves. All call center
associates are either veterans themselves or
have a family member who has been or is cur-
rently in active or reserve duty.
To make your move easier, the company not
only provides great trucks at over 2,000 con-
venient locations, it has a military discount of
10 percent. If you book your rental online,
you‘ll save an additional 10 percent automati-
cally. Plus, Penske will match any competitive
offer on one-way truck rentals for active mili-
tary personnel or veterans.
What‘s more, it‘s the only national truck
rental company with free unlimited miles on
one-way rentals anywhere in the United
States.
• Pick up your rental truck the day before to
save time on moving day.
Moving Day
• Finish packing, taping and labeling boxes.
• Prepare major appliances and electronics
for the move.
• Secure dresser drawers and appliance doors
with rope and tape.
• Assemble a moving-day kit, including direc-
tions, map, GPS, checkbook, credit cards,
military and other IDs, eyeglasses, sunglasses,
prescription drugs, flashlight, water, snacks,
games for kids, and old and new house keys.
• Watch your weight. Since a military do-it-
yourself move requires that you weigh your
vehicle before you load it and after, Penske
offers a free Certified Public Scale Locator to
make finding a scale easier.

Gouge Away is an upcoming hardcore
band from South Florida. The band
started in the spring of 2013 with vocalist
Christina Stijy and her ever so talented
band mates Mick Ford on the drums, Kotu
Bajaj rocking it on the bass, Victor Gabriel
playing the guitar and Peter Allen also
playing the guitar. This hardcore band
has out 2 EP‘s, 1 single and a full album
by the name ―Dies‖ on the way. When
asked about their favorite lyric in their
music they all agreed on ―I wasn‘t born to
die a statistic.‖ . Gouge Away is rounding up their tour with only two weeks
left in said tour.
This phenomenal punk band has been kicking it since early 2010. Starting in
Jacksonville, FL with vocalist/guitarist Graham Crainshaw performing purely
acoustic and then later finding his band mates Paul Chapman for the bass and
John Cyr on the
drums! This band
is Buffalo Buffalo!
The group
currently have out
1 album and 1 EP.
The group agreed
with ―Daddy‘s
teaching baby how
to rock!‖ as their
favorite lyric and
as a quick message
to everyone who
listens to Buffalo
Buffalo they say
―Don‘t be a dingus, just be excellent to each other!‖.
The last band of the eventful show was Gift Shop Girls! This group started
in early 2014 with Jason Glass and his symbolic lyrics singing vocals, Stephan
Washburn playing the drums, Tyler Miller showing us how it‘s done on the git
-fiddle, last but certainly not least Dylan Coffee on the bass! Gift Shop Girls
currently have one 8 song 7‖ inch record that is also available on limited
release on CD and available widely
on every major (and not so major)
digital distribution sites as well.
Mr. Washburn chose his favorite
lyric from all the songs to be
―These are the life games, we are
the prey, random guys to take it all
away.‖, but Mr. Glass does not
have a favorite! He says that each
lyric is heartfelt and every lyric is a
beautiful snowflake and he couldn‘t
choose just one. As a message to all
of their fans and just anyone out there ―Get cultured and then
start a band! If not a band, still get cultured anyway!‖.

dreds of flowers everyday.
Was Apollo 12's landing a moon-shaking event?
When the Apollo 12 astronauts landed on the moon,
the impact caused the moon's surface to vibrate for 55
minutes. The vibrations were picked up by laboratory in-

Is American Gothic one of America's most famous paint-
ings?
Possibly, although it's certainly one of the most parodied.
American Gothic is one of the most reproduced, and paro-
died, images ever. Many artists have replaced the two peo-
ple with other known couples and replaced the house with
well known houses. References and parodies of the image
have been numerous for generations, appearing regularly
in such media as postcards, magazines, animated cartoons,
advertisements, comic books, and television shows.

Jeb makes it official:
‗I‘m a candidate for
president‘ Jeb Bush formally announced his bid for
the White House on Monday with a speech
that sought to tie Hillary Clinton closely to
Barack Obama and his policies.
“I‟m a candidate for president of the United
States of America,” Bush, 62, said in an ad-
dress at Miami Dade College. Bush sug-
gested that Clinton would be untested in the
Democratic primary, and that if she won
her party's nomination she would represent
President Obama's third term. “I, for one, am not eager to see what another four years would look like un-
der that kind of leadership," Bush said to roaring applause from a crowd that included his mother, former
first lady Barbara Bush. "The presidency should not be passed on from one liberal to the next. "The party
now in the White House is planning a no-suspense primary, for a no-change election. To hold onto power.

NEW WIC SITE TO OPEN IN SOUTHPORT
The Florida Department of Health in Bay County will open a new WIC site and have
clinic at the Dove Church located at 7308 Highway 77 in Southport on June 23, 2015.
―We are pleased to announce the opening of a new WIC site in Bay County. This will
enable us to reach more of the eligible women and children in our community,‖ said,
Claire Henninger, RD, LD/N, WIC Director of the Florida Department in Bay County.
It is through the leadership of Douglas M. Kent, MPH, Administrator that WIC
received the opportunity to bring services to Southport and surrounding areas
through a partnership with the Dove Church. Ms. Henninger extends sincere
appreciation to Pastor Jason Hall and the members of the Dove Church for this
opportunity to reach those that can benefit from WIC in this area. WIC is a federally
funded Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. The Florida Department of
Health Bay County WIC program provides nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, referrals
for health care and community services, and no cost healthy foods. Each WIC client‘s unique nutritional needs
are identified through a nutrition assessment. This helps WIC provide tailored benefits that are responsive to the
client‘s individual nutrition needs. And now these benefits are provided through an Electronic Benefits Transfer
(EBT) card which gives the flexibility of purchasing what foods they need when they want them within benefits
issuance dates. WIC services are provided at the Dove Church the fourth Tuesday of every month from 8 am –
4 pm. For appointments and for more information, please call the main WIC Offices at The Florida Department
of Health in Bay County at 850-872-4666. For more information on the Florida Department of Health in Bay

...and what is in your stars this week?
ARIES March 21-April 19 Give yourself a pat on the back, Aries. This week is likely to give birth to some serious insights that you
need to run with. With Mercury finally doing what it does best (moving forward, that is), you are about ready to connect the dots and see
the whole picture. Don‟t let what you don‟t know distract you from working with the clarity you‟ve garnered. Trust what you‟re able to
see, and let the rest develop in it‟s time. It‟s time to grow big, friend.
TAURUS April 20-May 20 It‟d be real easy to let all the things that are wrong in the world and in your relationships get you down.
There‟s plenty of stuff that sucks, and you have the right to feel bad about it. But here‟s the thing: falling apart or running away won‟t
help you, not one bit. You may have to deal with disappointments, but there‟s a bigger picture you shouldn‟t lose sight of. Look for
opportunities to spread your wings and be more true to yourself. Be authentically you to make the most of what‟s happening this week.
GEMINI May 21-June 21 You can‟t fix everything you‟d prefer to, and you can‟t know what‟s coming next. It‟s a bummer. What
you do this week is not as important as your attitude, Twin Star. Understand that your fears and misgivings are reflecting your ego more
than they‟re foreshadowing what‟s to come. Resist the urge to be defensive in the face of hardship. Yield to it so that you can understand
what you‟re really scared of, and cope with that, pal.
CANCER June 22-July 22 If you gather up your willpower and ready yourself for some deep work, you can avoid burning yourself
out before you get anywhere, Moonchild. Not all of the work before you will be a hardship, but it won‟t all be adventure either. Do the
groundwork necessary to align yourself with your primary motives so that in the face of all the little things you have to deal with, you
can stay true to your larger picture. Patience, persistence, and clarity of vision will bring you where you need to go this week.
LEO July 23-Aug. 22 Sometimes you don‟t get what you want, even when you super duper deserve it. You have come to the end of
a road, Leo, and it‟s time to check in with your instincts to see what you want next. When you look at your goals, do you know what is
motivating you to have them? Or do you have healthy and up-to-date reasons for where you‟ve set your sights? Be open to seeing things
differently, so you can move through this process with grace.
VIRGO Aug. 23-Sept. 22 Make friends with the present moment, Virgo. Even if the conditions you‟re in suck, there‟s no use in
trying to ice out reality or in denying what‟s real. Acceptance is not defeat, it‟s the necessary springboard from which you can make
informed choices. Don‟t wait for things to get better before you strike out; push yourself forward to make them better now, dear one!
Collaborate with people and participate in the situations you‟re in to advance things to where you want „em to be.
LIBRA Sept. 23-Oct. 22 The line between being a selfish jerk and treating your self like a priority can be foggy sometimes. When
the people around you are used to you putting their needs first, they can get pretty bent out of shape when you don‟t do it. it‟s not that
they‟re (necessarily) jerks, it‟s that you have created certain expectations through your long-standing behavior; so when you change,
folks may not like it. Oh well. If you are finally taking care of yourself, you‟re bound to ruffle some feathers; but don‟t let it stop you,
Libra.
SCORPIO Oct. 23-Nov. 21 It‟s hard to be in a power struggle with someone who won‟t bite. Even if you feel that you‟re fighting for
peace, once you engage in b-s, you‟re gonna stink, Scorpio. Maintain your equilibrium as hardheaded Saturn returns to your sign for one
more stomp around. Participate in ways that reflect who you are and how you want to be in the world; and let others think, feel, and do
as they will. All you‟re responsible for is your own part.
SAGITTARIUS Nov. 22-Dec. 21 Stress and anxiety are the worst. They mess up your intuition, incline you to see mountains when
you‟re looking at molehills, and make everything feel dire. Strive to develop stronger relationship between self-care and fear, Sag.
That‟ll require you to be a better, more caring friend to yourself. I know you have stuff to do and it may feel like you don‟t have enough
time to do it, but being a bully to yourself is not a sustainable way to get things done. Align with why before you get to how this week.
CAPRICORN Dec. 22-Jan. 19 Are you ready to change your attitudes? You can stall all you like, but it‟s not necessary to struggle
so much, Cappy. The stress you bring to situations is making what would otherwise be some rough patches into major life travails. Be
brave! Show up already having decided to do and be your best. Show up willing, my friend. You know what and how you need to
change. Now figure out how to start, and the rest will flow from there.
AQUARIUS Jan. 20-Feb. 18 Sometimes it‟s just too much. The world is crazy! There‟s so much to do, and it never all gets done.
This week you‟re on call to nurture your soul. Seek ways of supporting yourself while you go through trials, no matter how big or small
they are. Look for connections this week that link your heart to your strategies for survival. That may mean that things go slower than
you‟d like or that you think you‟re wasting time, but I promise that it‟ll make the journey so much better.
PISCES Feb. 19-March 20 Sure, Pisces, you‟ve got to trust in your self, but are you trustworthy? It‟s unrealistic to trust a person
when they don‟t consistently have your back; how can you soothe your self if you know, when push comes to shove, you wont stand up
for your own needs? Be true to your heart of hearts. Stand up and stand tall, and honor your right to be wherever and whatever you are.
Be a good friend to yourself this week.

How old was Henry VIII when he became king? Henry was just shy of 18 years old when he became king, and had been preparing for it
from the time of his older brother Arthur's death. At this age, he was not the image that
we usually call to mind when we hear the name Henry VIII. He was not the overweight

He was tall and had a bright red-gold cap of hair and beard, a far cry from the fat, balding

the Chicago Fair, and was sold thereafter as
Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.
Was ketchup good for what ails ya?
At one time, some thought so -- Ketchup was sold in
the United States as a patent medicine in the early
nineteenth century -- Dr. Miles'
Compound Extract of Tomato.

Cannabyss is a
local metal band that
by popular public
review ―will have you
ready to throw down
your stuff and hop into
the moshpit.‖ Reece
Curtis is the vocalist of
this fine band, while
the ever so talented,
Kris Sallaway is
playing guitar and
Austin Cornette-Finch
on the drums. Now
when the band started it
was originally called
Labyrinth and only
included Kris and
Austin, but the metal
masterpiece
―Cannabyss‖ was
formed 2014. Currently
the band has two
albums out, with one
recorded Live at
Winterfest and the
other recorded right here in downtown Panama City, Florida at A&M
Theatre‘s! When asked their favorite lyric the band replied with
―Blunt Punch‖. Last, but definitely not least with this group on the
rise; The band says ―One of the good things about our music ,is it
sounds classic metal, and we actually care about our music and we try
to be as honest with our fans.‖
After Me, The Flood After Me, The Flood is a phenomenal hardcore band out of Georgia,
going a round about tour playing for all sorts of faces. The band
started in 2008/2009, with Taylor Whiddon and his amazing voice on
vocals, Jove Holloway on guitar, Brett Griffin is the bassist, Joseph
Dempsey playing guitar, and last, but certainly not least Thomas
White kicking it on drums! The group is coming out with a new record
this year and their favorite lyric would be ―We taste the soil and the
balance was disconnected. It never will be reestablished and I‘m
sorry son, but your father didn't make it, because the look in your
eyes reminded me of a better place in my mind and the casket is
closed and I didn‘t get to say goodbye.‖. When the band gets known
they want to tour the entire world. For the public eye the band has
to say ―Not to be afraid to express themselves and to always be
yourself, never fit the mold. That dreams are apart of growing up and
if you let them fade away you are losing a connection with yourself,
follow your heart. Y‘all just be happy, it‘s okay to be broken, because
it will always be okay.‖. They can‘t wait to see us all again in Panama
City and will probably be back July 11th.
This final band
is straight out of
Austin,
Texas!
Insvrgence
(Insurgence) is a
heavy hardcore
group and on
their tour from
coast to coast! They played very heavily in the Texas area and
occasionally made tours to California, even though they were picked
up by a label, they still book all their performances themselves.
Insvrgence began 2011 with vocalist James Wendt and guitarist Rafe
Holmes, the ―road ready crew‖ were all together two and a half years
later, which includes Drew Walker on guitar as well, Jacob Mercado
plays bass and Dave Applebaum rockin‘ the drums! They currently
have out just one album called ―The Tower‖ and you can find them on
Itunes and Spotify. When asked what their message would be vocalist
James Wendt replied ―We are all about the message, we are trying to
lock kids into seeing how our government effects us and not just
getting them to vote, but to also really pay attention to what candidates
are saying and what they are going once they get into office and
thinking about their next vote, instead of giving up. Using our
democracy instead of it use us.‖.

Florida Business
Leaders Applaud
Governor Scott‘s
Economic Development
Mission to Paris
PARIS, Fla. – Today, Florida business
leaders applauded Governor Scott‘s
economic development mission to the
2015 International Paris Air Show.
Earlier today, Governor Scott led a
delegation to share Florida‘s success
story with industry leaders from
across the world. The delegation
consisted of 17 Florida aviation and
aerospace, and defense and homeland
security small businesses, and
economic development leaders.
Bill Johnson, EFI president & CEO,
said, ―Events like the Paris Air Show
not only provide our economic
development team with a unique
opportunity to meet one-on-one with
industry leaders, but it allows our
small businesses to reach a global
audience they could not meet with
anywhere else during the year. Our
development and trade teams do a
fantastic job of promoting not only
the state but the companies going with
us. We‘re looking forward to another
successful mission.‖
John Karas, vice president of strategy
and business development, Lockheed
Martin Space Systems Company,
said, ―Lockheed Martin is proud to
have a longstanding presence at Cape
Canaveral supporting the U.S. Navy,
NASA and commercial space
customers. Florida‘s aerospace and
defense industry is as strong as it has
ever been, and we look forward to
helping it continue to thrive. We
appreciate the opportunity to be here
today at the opening of the Florida
Pavilion with Governor Scott and
Secretary Johnson, and we‘re
encouraged by the impressive
showing from small businesses and
organizations exhibiting here this
week.‖
Frederico Curado, president and
CEO of Embraer, said, ―Florida has
continued to provide us with the
workforce and resources we need to
be successful, so we are proud to use
this venue to announce our latest
expansion plans and continued
commitment to the state. Once again,
we are in great company with the
organizations and small businesses
coming together here at the Florida
Pavilion.‖
Dr. John R. Watret, Emrby-Riddle
Aeronautical University Interim
president, said, ―Governor Scott
brings the needed credibility and
energy to drive success for the Florida
delegation. He has worked tirelessly
to support the expansion of Florida
aviation and aerospace companies
small and large on the international
stage and Embry-Riddle has directly
benefited from that commitment – we
are growing our international
network of campuses and attracting
more students to study at our
locations in the United States.‖
Mike Wallace, vice president of
Business Development for Loos &
Co., Inc., said, ―Florida has been
probably the most progressive state
when it comes to promoting its
various industries. Governor Scott is
continuing a long tradition of
attendance at the Paris Air Show as
well as at the Farnborough Air Show.
It means a lot to have the Governor at
the show leading the Florida
delegation. It is great for the
exhibitors because it shows a
commitment to the small businesses
that traditionally exhibit with
Enterprise Florida.‖
Frank Ruggiero, vice president of
sales & marketing for Future Metals
LLC, said, ―The Southeastern United
States has become a global hot spot
for aerospace manufacturing and
aircraft maintenance over the past
several years. Governor Scott has
been actively involved in bringing new
aerospace investment to Florida
during that time, which has created
opportunities for our business to grow
not only within the state but around
the world. His commitment to
Enterprise Florida and direct
involvement at the Paris Airshow has
helped Future Metals strengthen our
position as the leading exporter of
aircraft quality metals in the state,
which has translated to our ability to
create more jobs at our headquarters
in South Florida.‖
Bill Hampton, Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University‘s senior vice
president and chief marketing officer,
said, ―We have been participating in
Enterprise Florida international air
show pavilions for more than 10
years. The Pavilion is not only a
chance to connect with new
customers, but to solidify our Florida-
based relationships and add value as
the ‗world‘s leader in aviation and
aerospace higher education.‘ The
presence and connections created by
EFI have been integral to our
international relationships. Most
importantly, EFI was an important
catalyst for the Embry-Riddle Asia
campus which was established in
2013.‖
Pierre Pinsonnault, president of
Aerospace Precision, Inc., said,
―Having Governor Scott at the Paris
Air Show is indicative of the
importance that he places to expand
the aviation sector and to become the
#1 State of aerospace job creation.
Governor's Scott presence solidifies
his willingness to assist small aviation
businesses by promoting all the
services offered by Enterprise
Florida. Enterprise Florida is very
diligent in bringing about a full
agenda of events and opportunities to
network with existing and potential
customers within the aviation
industry.‖
Mauricio Mendoza, international
sales manager for Pan American Tool
Corp., said, ―Governor Scott‘s
presence at the Paris Air Show is a
clear sign of how important it is for
the state of Florida to support small
businesses and stand beside their
export efforts at international events
of great importance and visibility.
Enterprise Florida has helped us by
offering all the resources that are
available only to major corporations
with big trade show budgets to small
businesses like ours at a fraction of
the cost.‖
Keith Norden, president & CEO of
Team Volusia EDC, said, ―As
Governor Scott is the State's primary
sales person, it is important that he
lead the Florida delegation since
Aviation and Aerospace is a key
sector in our State's economy. His
presence at the Paris Air Show/
Florida Pavilion and Enterprise
Florida‘s assistance with the
coordination of our efforts shows that
we are one of the top States for this
industry sector.‖
Evangelina Fernandez, president of
Florida Aeronautics, Inc., said,
―Governor Scott's presence at the
Paris Airshow will have great effect
on the Aerospace industry because
there will be a greater effort to invest
or re-invest in Aerospace companies,
not only to help clients around the
world, but also to foster greater
growth in the economy of Florida.
Enterprise Florida has been
extremely helpful in planning
everything and helping us find out
about their trade grants, which made
it possible for our company to attend
the show.‖
Larry K. Williams, president and
CEO of The Beacon Council, said,
―Governor Scott is the CEO of our
state. Nothing sells Florida better
than having our top level executive
make the sales pitch to his
counterparts in the C Suite. Aviation
is one of Florida and Miami Dade‘s
most important and growing
industries. Governor Scott
understands the importance of this
industry to our community and is an
outstanding advocate for its continued
growth. We have collaborated closely
with the Enterprise Florida team, who
has helped us prepare to take full
advantage of this valuable business
generation opportunity.‖
Rick Cunliffe, CEO of Discovery
Aviation, Inc. – Melbourne, FL, said,
―The Paris Airshow is the most
significant commercial aviation event
in the world. Having the State of
Florida provide a first class venue,
and financial support allows small
companies like Discovery bring their
world class products to the world's
most important stage. Enterprise
Florida‘s financial assistance through
the Florida grants allows our
company to exhibit at a show that
meets such a wide audience.‖
Raul Segredo, president of Avionica,
Inc., said, ―Governor Rick Scott has a
well-known reputation for
successfully promoting business, and
his attendance at the Paris Air Show
reaffirms Florida‘s international role
in the aviation and aerospace
industry. His activities at the Paris
Air Show promote relationships with
decision-makers, shining the spotlight
on a skilled workforce already in
place to provide support, whether
aviation firms on the Space Coast or
expanding Miami companies like
Avionica. Our longtime relationship
with Enterprise Florida has helped us
to prepare for networking and
meeting potential clients at the Paris
Air Show.‖
Paul Raudenbush, senior vice
president of Haskell, said, ―The
leading companies in Aviation/
Aerospace want to see leadership and
Governor Rick Scott brings a unique
and direct type of leadership that is
absolutely necessary in attracting the
attention of these business leaders.
We have done this show many times
and enjoyed a tremendous
partnership with Enterprise Florida
over the years. We are proud to be
associated with Enterprise Florida.‖
Albert Arce, CEO of Airgroup
Dynamics, Inc., said, ―I feel very
fortunate as an American when I see
that Governor Rick Scott is by our
side, representing the aviation
industry for the State of Florida. The
past years have been no cakewalk for
the aviation industry due to
persistently rising fuel costs and
international economic recessions. In
order to survive in the world market
we must promote bright ideas and
creative innovations. Governor Rick
Scott is full of optimism due his focus
on economic prosperity, robust
population growth, urbanization, and
his devotion to increase Florida‘s
contribution to the global society.
With the support of Florida
Enterprise and Governor Rick Scott,
we can provide basic knowledge and
principles to the aviation marketplace
worldwide. Governor Rick Scott
knows that great things happen when
motivation meets the needs of the
community.‖
