3. NEW FUNCTIONALITY

3.1 Enable LTE SW download on top of WBTS6.0 (RAN1806)

This feature enables to upgrade Flexi Multiradio BTS WCDMA to LTE mode.

Single system module can work both in WCDMA or LTE mode only by downloading and activating the relevant software.

3.2 Flexi FRGQ (RAN 2112)

Flexi 2100 MHz 2TX Radio Remote Head (RRH)

3.3 Security for Ethernet ports on FCM/FSM2 (RAN 2292)

This feature gives protection against:

- eavesdroping, intercepting or modifying BTS internal traffic

- misuse of BTS internal services like telnet, ftp, R&D services

- injecting malicious packets towards the core network

4. PREPARATIONS

4.1 NSN WCDMA BTS Site Manager

NSN WCDMA BTS Site Manager SW is not included in the BTS SW package stored in BTS. Instead, it is delivered separately with each SW release and should be installed on PC before going to the BTS site to commission WN6.0 BTS. With WN6.0_22.12-288_E SW release: Site Element version 6.2.227

4.2 Supported upgrade paths

The network elements have to be at RU10 level before starting the upgrade. The

upgrade procedure must follow the upgrade order defined for the network elements. 1. OSS: OSS5.1 CD set 1 -> OSS5.1 CD set 2 (+MP1) -> OSS5.2 -> OSS5.2 CD set 1-> OSS5.2 Set 3 2. RNC: RN4.0 CD1.x -> RN5.0 MP1-> RN5.0 MP2-> RN5.0 MP3-> RN5.0 MP4->RN5.0 MP5 RN4.0 CD2.x -> RN5.0 MP1-> RN5.0 MP2-> RN5.0 MP3-> RN5.0 MP4->RN5.0 MP5 AXC: AXC C5.5 -> AXC C6.0 Note that the upgrade can be done from any AXC C5.5 CD level. 4. BTS: WN5.0 / WN5.0 CDx -> WN6.0 / WN6.0 MPx If Rel1 System Module is installed to RU20 Network with WN4.0 SW, it must be upgraded to WN5.0 with BTS Site Manager. Note that since WN6.0 onwards CD deliverables are renamed into MPs Limitations and requirements of system upgrade: All network entities (NetAct, RNC, and BTS) have to be at RU20 SW level to activate RU20 features. In mixed configuration only RU10 level functionality is available. For managing the entire RU20 feature set, NetAct 5.2 CD set 1 is a prerequisite. Performing commissioning or troubleshooting must be preceded with BTS Site Manager upgrade to WN6.0 level. HSPA+ features supported in UltraSite with EUBB units and with Flexi Multimode system module (Rel2 SM is present as master or extension module). HW requirements are checked according the WN6.0 HW requirements. BTS WN6.0 upgrade order: 1. AXC C6.0 SW upgrade 2. BTS WN6.0 SW upgrade Note If customer will get HW deliverables from factory including previous SW (ex. WN4.0 or WN5.0) they must have local WN6.0 SW DL before commissioning. Without it license files are generated for serialNumber instead of logical Id. If there are pre-installated FRIE/FRGP HW there is need for two SW DLs. First one will download RF SW and after reset there is another SW DL which includes full SW delivery. When the RAML2.1 conversion (RAN885: Remote BTS SCF Management for Flexi/Ultra/MetroSite BTS) is carried out by the WN6.0 SW, two WN5.0- and WN6.0-specific commissioning files are stored into the BTS. WN6.0 SCF is converted automatically when WN6.0 SW delivery is done and WN6.0 SW is activated (after BTS reset). Automatic conversion is active until first recommissioning is done with WN6.0. Note EUBB units can be installed when there is WN6.0 SW active.

6.2 SW Download and activation instructions with BTS Site Manager

In the Update SW to BTS Site dialog box you can update new software to the BTS site. This procedure does not download those application files existing in the BTS or TRS which have the same version information.

You can view the current SW versions in the Site Information dialog box by choosing the Software → SW Versions menu item.

Note. If the BTS site has connection to the NetAct, the NetAct will manage the SW (that is, checks the SW version and, if it is different than the SW in the NetAct database, downloads new SW).

Steps:

1. Choose the Software → Update SW to BTS Site menu item to open the Update SW to BTS Site dialog box.

2. Click the Select File button to locate the master file containing the new software.

• The Select Build Descriptor dialog box opens. • Locate and select the master file (TargetBD.xml or SW package zip file), and click the Open

button. If you select the zip file, the files will be decompressed when you click Open. • The Select Build Descriptor dialog box closes and the new SW version is displayed in the

Update SW to BTS Site dialog box.

3. Select the Activate SW After Update check box to enable the activation of the new software in accordance with SW updating.

Note. If you do not want to activate the new software at the same time with updating it, you can leave the option unchecked, and the SW is downloaded to the BTS site in the background only. To activate the SW later with Activate SW After Update selected, you have to perform the SW update again.

4. Click the Update button.

• The Update Progress steps show the transfer status of files. DL time depends on DCN and amount of downloaded data.

• Wait for the SW update complete notification. If the Activate SW After Update check box was selected, the SW will be activated and the site will be reset.

Note. If the SW download fails, update the software again

5. If you want to view information on the SW download, click the View Report button.

• The Software Update Report dialog box opens.

6. Click the Close button to close the dialog box.

6.3 Flexi BTS restart when FPGA SW is updated

When SW Release includes an update for FSP MCU Transu FPGA, FSP-FP-BI#n file, an additional restart is performed during SW activation. Additional restart is unavoidable and is performed by the system. Probability of FPGA SW upgrade is low. If SW release includes a FPGA SW upgrade it is mentioned in the Release Note.

7. WCDMA BTS LICENCE FREE PERIOD

When a new BTS site is taken into use, the BTS can be commissioned at the site directly to its definitive operating configuration and features, and download the required licences remotely later on.

Licence management late activation enables the use of all licenced features without licence restrictions for 14 days, starting from SW upgrade and establishing connection to the NTP server. If the 14 days trial period has been exceeded, still the O&M remote connection to a BTS can be maintained and LKs can be imported to BTS via NetAct Licence management or via BTS Site Manager.

8. CONNECTING TO A BTS AND AUTHENTICATION MANAGEMENT

In WN5.0 or later, authentication is always enabled either with a default username/password (Nemuadmin / nemuuser) or user defined username/password. Therefore correct username and password must be used to log on to the BTS.

8.1 UltraSite

In UltraSite the AXC is handling the authentication procedure. If authentication is used in AXC2.x and then AXC3.0 is upgraded, the username/password defined earlier are used. In case of no username/password were given, the default username/password (Nemuadmin/nemuuser) are used. Same username and password are valid for both BTS Site Manager and AXC Manager. The previous username and password defined in BTS Site Manager (WN3.x) are not used after upgrade to WN5.0. In WN6.0, default port for local BTS Site Manager connection is AXC port. WAM Ethernet port is an optional for local connection. Correct IP settings need to be defined to the PC corresponding to the port. If the IP settings are wrong, BTS Site Manager connection is not possible. BTS Site Manager is jammed in Checking element manager version “, Selecting correct element manager version” or “Connecting” because SiteEM.xml file cannot be fetched from WAM (FTP disabled).

Settings for connection

Connecting to the AXC port (default)

IP Settings for PC (Cross connected Ethernet cable is needed to connect to AXC port):

• PC IP address 192.168.255.130

• Subnet mask 255.255.255.128

• Gateway 192.168.255.129

Page 9: NSN Release Upgrade Instructions

IP settings can be tested by pinging to 192.168.255.129 and 192.168.255.16 addresses.

Connecting to the WAM LMP port (optional)

It is also possible to connect to any WAM LMP with (straight connected Ethernet cable), as all WAMs are connected to the same Ethernet hub. IP settings for PC, when the WAM LMP is used:

• IP address:192.168.255.126

• Net mask:255.255.255.128

• Default gateway: 192.168.255.32

Configuring BTS to the RNC The BTS is created and configured according to given parameters to the OMS (Nemu). O&M Iub is configured to the OMU. After that the BTS should be On Air state and O&M Iub connected (if correct parameters are given). Subsequently, it is possible to connect to BTS public IP address remotely with BTS Site Manager (configure the address to the computer IP firewall friend list if needed). The username/password can be changed by remote connection with AXC Manager. BTS Site Manager cannot change the username/password, because the AXC is handling the authentication procedure. BTS super user password can be changed with the AXC Manager. It is very important not to leave the ongoing AXC Manager connection open since the super user password can be changed without knowing the current username or password. If the super user password is changed, it is no longer possible to log on to the site with the default super user account. If the default username and/or password are changed, it is no longer possible to change them back since they do not meet the password regulations. The default username and password can only be activated by reverting the transmission default settings with the Internet browser. This operation requires the super user username and password.

NOTE. If autoconnection feature (RAN1298) is active then Flexi BTS logical Id must be predefined via NetAct and/or RNC RNW Object Browser. Ref. NSN Activating RAN1298 and RAN1299 BTS plug-and-play document.

8.2 Flexi BTS

Flexi BTS is managed using BTS Site Manager which manages both BTS and TRS.

Settings for connection

IP Settings for PC (straight Ethernet cable is needed to connect to the FCM LMP port): • PC IP address 192.168.255.126

• Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (with 128 mask, FTM is not visible in the BTS Site Manager view)

• Gateway is not defined

IP settings can be tested test by pinging to 192.168.255.129 and 192.168.255.16 addresses.

9. CHECKING OF THE PACKAGE CONSISTENCY

Consistency of CD SW package can be monitored with Site Manager tool located in Software Menu / Option “ SW Versions”

10. FALLBACK

Activate SW FALLBACK via normal SW DL and activation procedure to previous commissioned SW.

NOTE: When the RAML2.1 conversion (RAN885) is done by the WN6.0 software, two WN5.0 and WN6.0 specific Site Commissioning Files (SCFs) are created. If the WN5.0 specific parameter is updated through the WN6.0 SW, and if the rollback to the WN5.0 is activated, WN5.0 specific SCF file version is not updated by the WN6.0 changed value. All values remain as they were when the WN5.0 SW was active. NOTE. If EUBB units are installed and Fallback to WN5.0 will happen there is need to remove installed EUBB units before BTS will start up with WN5.0 SW.
