Nutrition and Health Status of New Canadians: Readiness for Culturally Appropriate Care is a one day thematic conference that will take place on June 13, 2019 as a pre-conference event to the 2019 North American Refugee Health Conference that is taking place from June 14-16, 2019 at the Sheraton Centre Conference Hotel https://www.northamericanrefugeehealth.com
Please join us to learn from some of the leading researchers, service providers and policy makers in the field of immigration health – and to engage in sharing perspectives on the challenges and opportunities regarding food security, nutritional health and access to healthcare services.
Learning Objectives
At the close of this symposium, participants will be able to:
• Describe the nutrition and health status of recent immigrant and refugee children and their families
• Understand the food security status of refugees, as a basic human right in association with other social determinants of health, compared to Canadians and recent immigrants
• Explain culturally appreciate care in the field of nutrition and health
• Identify challenges and facilitators toward access to culturally appropriate nutrition and healthcare services by newcomers.
