Activities for Home• Go for a walk with your child to look for signs of spring. Are
the birds building nests? Are spring flowers blooming? If you live in an area with snowy winters, has the snow melted? Look for trees turning green, flowers sprouting, and any other signs of spring in your area.
• Visit with your child about the characteristics of a rabbit. Invite your child to pretend to be a bunny. Have her hop, wiggle her nose, and nibble on a carrot. Stop at your local pet store or farm supply store to observe a real bunny, if possible.
• Fly and move like an airplane with your child. Hold your arms out like wings and make airplane sounds. Practice taking off and landing!
• Have fun together with rhymes. Walk around your home with your child and look for objects with names that rhyme with their colors. For example, you might discover green beans, a blue shoe, a red sled, and so on. Try making up some silly poems about a few of the objects you found.
Nursery RhymesNursery rhymes teach children auditory skills and help them develop an appreciation for rhyme and rhythm. They also help children develop language, memory, creativity, and other cognitive skills.

Little Airplane Sung to “Jingle Bells”
Little plane, little plane, Flying way up high! (Pretend to fly a plane.) Up and down and all around, Zooming through the sky! Little plane, little plane, Vrooming oh so loud! As I pass, I’ll wave to you, (Wave.) From behind a cloud!
Up Pop the Flowers Sung to “Pop Goes the Weasel”
We plant some seeds in the dirt. (Pretend to plant seeds.) The rain falls in a shower. (Make rain with fingers.) The sun comes out and what do you know? (Crouch down.) Up pop the flowers! (Pop up!)
Cooking TogetherWhen cooking with young children, allow them
to help in a safe way with mixing, pouring, rolling, mashing, shaking, etc. Use words to describe what you are doing and what you
plan to do next. Talk about what you see, smell, feel, hear, and taste.
Biscuit Bloomsrefrigerated biscuit dough jam
Heat the oven and prepare a pan according to package instructions. Give your child a plastic knife and a biscuit on a piece of waxed paper. Show him how to make several cuts through the dough around the outside edges of the biscuit. Gently separate the dough to make flower petals. Transfer the biscuit to the pan by simply turning the paper upside down. Have your child make an indent with his thumb in the center of his biscuit. Bake as directed. When the biscuits are done, place a dab of jam in the middle and enjoy!
