Write a report

The report is worth 50 points.See Zumdahl textbook pages 684-88

and 834-5 for more information.Be sure to follow the guidelines of

your previous lab report.

Obtain a mixture melting point (to verify last week's identification)

Determine the melting point of your unknown.Determine the melting point of what you think your

unknown is for comparison and verification.

Obtain the Infrared spectrum of unknown acid

Make sure you saved your sample from last week.

Bring the dry solid to the infrared spectrometer room to obtain

spectrum.

Instructions for obtaining the spectrum (diffuse reflectance) are posted next to the spectrometers.

Read RCK-002 and SUPL-005

You should already have read SUPL-005 for the spectroscopy labs.

RCK-002 is only 2 pages of text.Pay close attention to the latter half

of SUPL-005, which deals with infrared spectroscopy.
