AN OVERVIEW OF ONE WEEK WORKSHOP The Department of Commerce, University of Gour Banga is going to organise a ONE WEEK
WORKSHOP ON ‘APPLICATION OF STATISTICAL SOFTWARES IN SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH’ (ASSSSR)
during January 18-24, 2017. The applications of Statistics and Econometrics are becoming
increasingly important for analyzing the problems of different sectors like Industry, Agriculture to the
Service sector e.g. Health, Education, Public Finance, Banking and Insurance etc. The applications
of these analytical tools by using software have made a revolutionary transformation. This
programme is intended mainly for the Faculty Members, Professionals and Research Scholars
working in the domains of Management, Commerce, Economics, Social Sciences, Environmental
Sciences and other related fields. The Workshop is conceived to initiate and facilitate deliberations
by eminent experts on subjects contemporary and relevant to the profession and the participants
will get a good training on some popular and important softwares like SPSS, E-views, and will learn
how to conduct data analysis by using the softwares.
HOW TO APPLY
Interested Participants may send their filled in Application forms to the email ids:

2016. Selected candidates will be intimated by 10th January 2017and they have to be registered by
depositing Rs. 2000/- (Rupees two thousands only) as their registration fees directly on or before
15th January, 2017. Fee can also be paid through account payee Cheque/Draft/Fund Transfer
(NEFT/RTGS) drawn in favour of the following Savings Bank Account. (Keeping in mind that seats
are limited.)

ACCOMMODATION
Participants will be provided lunch and morning & evening tea everyday and accommodation will
be provided (on request only for outside participants on ‘first come first serve’ basis) at the
University Guest house within the campus on sharing basis. We can also arrange accommodation
at nearby hotels on behalf of participants on request.
