go with a 100% digital model. – It is looking for an agile billing solution that will let it launch and test
a variety of subscription and pricing models.
• Use case – OpenPress has opted for a paywall model that provides access to 5
free articles per month. – Once the threshold is exceeded, users are given three options:
• Pay a fee/article of 0.9€ • Subscribe to a premium subscription @ 9€/month • Subscribe to a premium subscription including magazine @ 15€/month

24/12/15 © Opencell 2015 - Confidential 16
OpenMusic Scenario
• Market positioning – Independent multi-territory subscription-based music streaming
platform. – Several distribution deals with major studios imposing complex
formulas for managing revenue share
• Use case – OpenMusic proposes premium subscription (9.99€/month incl. VAT)
in all European countries. – Revenue share to studio is calculated in 2 parts
• Minimum monthly remittance per month (negotiated with studio) for the first 500 streams
• Above 500 streams, the following formula is applied: Total territory revenue * artist stream / total stream * studio royalty rate
– OpenMusic also needs to calculate remittance due to artists.

Implementation with Opencell
• OpenMusic end user subscribes to an offer with a recurring fee.
• Studio has a subscription rating music streams (usages): – Each music stream is rated as an usage
• 0 until reaching the counter threshold • 0.1 above the threshold
– A studio rate value held in custom field is then applied to determine the royalty due.
• Artists exist as a sub-account of studio. A report per artist can be issued for the studio (how much they owe the artist)
