Key Use Cases
21
Pain Point: Server issues not communicated on time
Pain point
• “Sometimes, the server goes down and I am not aware of it. Often I find out when users start complaining, or when I go to work the next morning.”
Solution
• Get notifications proactively from server/OME on your mobile device
• Easily check Logs or Health Status from OMM
• Reboot remotely
22
Get notifications pro-actively from OM console –Anytime, Anywhere
OpenManage Mobile App
OpenManage Cloud Services
Vendor Push Notification Services
OM Cloud Services sends to Apple/Google push service
OM Console notifies OM Cloud Services

OM Mobile can optionally connect over IP to OM Enterprise

Apple/Google service sends notification
23
Pain Point: Initial server config can be time-consuming
Pain point
• “I like to rack & stack my servers, assign an IP address, and then manage them remotely. But I need to switch on each server to assign IP address, or fumble with the LCD keys.”
Solution
• Access server through Quick Sync 2, and assign an IP address in seconds. You can even change credentials and key BIOS attributes.
24
Pain Point: Using crash cart is cumbersome
Pain point
• “It is very inconvenient to use a crash cart. Sometimes, I cant even find it.I wish there had been an easier way.”
Solution
• Easily access server console and other features at-the-box with Quick Sync 2, wirelessly.
25
Pain Point: Configuring a server with LCD is not easy
Pain point
• “I use LCD to configure my server, but it is too small and difficult to use… and now I don’t even have LCD on some Dell EMC 14G servers.”
Solution
• OMM works as your premium LCD –Anything you can review or update from LCD, you can do it from OMM also, and on a much larger, easy-to-read screen
26
Pain Point: Changing unique password is difficult
Pain point
• “I like to order servers with unique passwords for security, but it is very cumbersome to change it. I have to copy each one manually and change it through iDRAC GUI on iDRAC Direct.”
Solution
• With OME and Quick Sync 2, you can scan QR code to capture password automatically & access iDRAC quickly, and then change it from your mobile device. But do remember to order your server with Quick Sync 2 module.
Security
28
Security is a key focus for OMM and Quick Sync 2• Encrypted Bluetooth Connection
− Certificate verification; 2048 bit RSA− Key exchange; 2048 bit Diffie Hellman − Up to 256 bit AES-GCM encryption
• Maximized Wi-Fi security− WPA2-PSK (AEC-CCMP) encryption− Randomly generated 256 bit keys− Keys exchanged over encrypted BLE − Keys cycled with each session
• Mobile App Encryption− Data on device is AES-encrypted− Uses device identifiers and password
(SQL cipher up to 256 bytes keys)
29
And security experts agree!
“It is clear that Dell EMC engineers have made security a key focus for iDRAC Quick Sync 2. From utilizing a subset of the BlueZ stack to
reduce attack surface to designing a strong encryption system, hardening has been applied to almost every aspect of this product.”
