• 3 genera, 16-36 species.• Herbs with upright aerial or horizontal
subterranean, dichotomously branched stems; scales absent.
• Leaves alternate, large, one or more times pinnate, either dimorphic, or some leaves differentiated into fertile and sterile segments.
• Sporangia large and stalked.
