g2 Energy are High Voltage Electrical and Civil engineers, who specialise in the design and construction of ‘Balance of Plant’ infrastructure along with grid connections for embedded generation schemes. We are a Lloyds registered, NERS Accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP) who can provide Contestable Works at voltages up to and including 132kV; utilising the latest CAD,CDEG and ERACS computer software. g2 Energy assisted with the planning application process for a 132kV connection to the WPD network for 26MVA ofembedded generation. g2 Energy were also responsible for the design and build of this complete bespoke 132kV substation project from planning through installation and final connection to the grid. g2 Energy were also appointed as project managers for the duration of the project, which included site welfare responsibilities. 132kV Compound Design and Construction works included: Civil and Electrical Design of 132kV outdoor switching compound, 132/33kV Transformer and 33kV Switch Room including all cabling and auxiliary equipment. Design work also included system studies covering voltage regulation and harmonics, plus full Earthing system design. Supply, installation and commissioning of all electrical 132kV and 33kV equipment and overseeing the civil build of our designs for the complete site.
The 132kV substation compound now has 5 turbines connected to it, including a 4 turbine wind farm. g2 Energy has completed all electrical design and build works on these turbines.
Wind Turbine Design Works included: Geotechnical site survey, reinforced concrete foundation design for four wind turbines, civil and electrical design of 4 Client GRP substations and foundations; Civil and Electrical design of a 33kV cable route; Civil and Electrical design of the Earthing arrangement
Wind Turbine Construction Works included: Installation of 4 reinforced concrete wind turbine foundations; supply and installation of the turbine Earthing Solution. Commissioning of the four client GRP substations with a suitable foundation; plus the supply and installation of 4 x 33kV/690V transformers, 4 x 33kV switch fuses, and the installation and connection of a suitable auxiliary supply. Installation, supply and commissioning of the 33kV cable; plus over 5000m of 33kV cable between the individual turbine substations, feeding back into the 132kV compound. This included cable terminations and testing.
