Our Spirit
29 March 2018 WEEK 8 TERM 1
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we have celebrated Holy Week with some powerful and moving prayer
celebrations. The students have been amazing! They have been reflective,
reverent and engaged. What are the events in Holy Week? Some of them we
know well, while others we do not celebrate as significantly.
Palm Sunday: Held on the Sunday before Easter Sunday. It recalls Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem one week before his execution.
Holy Monday: Commemorates Jesus' cleansing of the temple, when he got angry against money changers and other commercial interests who had tables within the Temple. Some believe that this triggered his arrest and crucifixion.
Holy Tuesday: Recalls Jesus' description to his disciples on the Mount of Olives of the destruction of Jerusalem. Holy Wednesday: Recalls Judas' decision to betray Jesus in exchange
for 30 pieces of silver. Holy Thursday: Commemorates the Last Supper, Jesus’ agony in the
garden and his arrest. For centuries, people in authority have washed the feet of their followers on this day.
Good Friday: Recalls Jesus' death on the Cross. Holy Saturday (a.k.a. Easter Eve) is the final day of Holy Week and of
Lent. Easter Sunday: Commemorates Jesus' resurrection.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS SOCCER CARNVIAL The Catholic Schools Soccer Carnival, which Holy Spirit is hosting, is just over a week away! We will need as many parents to support the event as possible. More information will be sent out via the Skoolbag App. In the mean time, please support our sponsors and like and share our Soccer Facebook Page! NOT BEFORE 8.30am A reminder to parents that students should not be arriving at school before 8.30am. Supervision of students does not commence until 8.30am and we are concerned with the number of students that have been left at school unsupervised by parents.
ALIVE WITH THE SPIRIT, WE CELEBRATE
FAITH, LEARNING AND
LIFE.
