Instructor:
Ben Pingel
Objectives:
The objective in recreating this project is so I can easly give my
name and contact information to a prosective employeer, and for
networking purposses.
Process:
First I had to create a logo for myself using Adobe Illustrator. Since
blue is my favorte color, and represents honesty I wanted it in mycolor scheme. I kept things simple by choosing a complimentary
color scheme, hence orange as the second color.
After creating my logo I went into Adobe InDesign and created a
business card layout. I did this by changing the workplace size to five
inches wide by three inches long.

Objectives:
The objective in recreating this project is so I can stay unifed with
my business card. I can use this for my resume, cover letter and any
other professional letters.
Process:
Once I created a logo I was able to carry it over from Illustrator toInDesign to create the layout. Here I was also able to add my name,
number and website. There was a lot of playing around with the
opacities on this project. I had to figure out which setting showed
the best color, and stayed light enough for text to show through.

Title:
The Johnson Family logo.
Description:
This is a logo I created for my family. The first one is a split
complimentary color scheme using violet and lime colors. The
second one is a black and gray so it can be used with universal color. And the third one is a white on black so it can be used on solid
colored backgrounds.
Programs:
The program used was Adobe Illustrator.
Date:
October 30, 2015
Course:Comm 130 Visual Communications
Section 4
Instructor:
Ben Pingel
Objectives:
The object for this assignment was to create a logo for a “company.”
Having the last name “Johnson” I based my logo off of “Johnson &
Johnson,” and recreated their logo. The objective was to create a
logo that was nice and professional enough that it could be printedand hung with the collage of our family pictures.
Process:
To start I typed a “J” and an “F” in 150 size font using a san serif font.
Then I had to lessen the kerning of the letters to bring them close
enough together they were touching. I then had to turn the “F” into
an object in order to draw out the horizontal line of the “F” so it was
flush with the “J.” Then I also had to rase the bottom part of the “F”
in order to create enough room for the “johnson family” part to be
aligned with the bottom of the “J.”

Title:
This is called, “Crunch some leaves.”
Description:
The image is a pictured of some leaves in the autumn. During the
process of creating this image I learned the skill of Photoshop.
When I created this it was during the autumn season. My wife, Emily, enjoys stomping on leaves and hearing them chrunch. This is why I
chose this picture and title.
Programs:
The program used was Adobe Photoshop.
Date:
October 16, 2015
Course:Comm 130 Visual Communications
Section 4
Instructor:
Ben Pingel
Objectives:
The objective in this assiangment was to learn the art of
Photoshop. In this picture I used many different tools, such as:
sharpen, contrast, masking and laso tools. I stuck with the colors of
the leaves, so it was a split complimentary between violet and lime.
Process:
First I had to take the picture using a digital camera. I then dropped
the photo in Photoshop and arranged it the way I wanted before I
placed it. After making changes to the picture I came up with the
title and got the quote from my wife. Then I created the colored lines
to put in my color scheme.

The Teton Geotourism Center Brochure.
Description:
This is a brochure for the Teton Geotourism Center (TGC). It is a “gate
fold” brochure, which means the brochure opens like a gate.
Programs:
Programs used are Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
Date:
December 5, 2015
Course:
Comm 130 Visual Communications
Section 4
Instructor:
Ben Pingel
Objectives:
The objective in creating this is to inform tourist that there are fun
things to do year-round in the Teton area. And at the TGC is where
you can find all of the fun activities.
Process:
I used Illustrator to create a new logo for the TGC. I also had to use
photoshop to crop the snow sculpture picture to create a “wraptext” around that picture. And in InDesign is where I put together
the brochure. The “ruler guides” were my best friends for this project.
With the body copy to the headers, and the images there was a lot
to align. On the inside in the “winter” section is where I used the
“wrap text” in the InDesign program.

A “Breakfast Date” event ad.
Description:
The purpose of this project was to scan an image and create an
event ad. I used my scanner at home, and a magazine we had laying
around to scan this image for the project.
Programs:
The program used was Microsoft Word.
Date:
October 9, 2015
Course:
Comm 130 Visual Communications
Section 4
Instructor:
Ben Pingel
Objectives:
The objective of this ad is to advertise bring a date to a breakfast
benefit. The benefit would be a breakfast at a local park. This benefit
would help with maintaining and cleaning the park.
Process:
The only program used was Microsoft Word. I used my own scannerto scan the image to my computer. The main FOCUS principles used
were alignment and color scheme. With the image being dominantly
green, I played around a lot with the color schemes to see what
looked best. Monochromatic green seem to look the best and most
natural. I also used alignment with the body copy. I also feel that in
the image itself has some good alignment and even asymmetry.

Title:
Become a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Description:
I blended three different images into a montage. The photo of the
temple and Brigham Young University (Idaho) were taken by me
using my camera. The image of Christ was used from the internet.I used a quote from President Hinckley from his speech when the
Hinckley building was dedicated.
Programs:
The program used was Adobe Photoshop.
Date:
October 23, 2015
Course:Comm 130 Visual Communications
Section 4
Instructor:
Ben Pingel
Objectives:
The object in creating this is to help others become a disciple of
Christ by utilizing the university and temple. And by becoming a
disciple, like the quote says, “There is no end in sight for the good
[we] can do.”
Process:
The first thing I did was gather as many “spiritual” images I could.
From there I planned my image and what it would look like. Then I
used photoshop to edit the images in a way I wanted them to look.
After that I was able to blend my images together. When that was
complete I was able to add my title, subtitle, and body copy.

The Johnson Family Logo Website.
Description:
This is a web page I created. It is a page with a logo I created and its
description and process of creating.
Programs:
Programs used are Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Text Wrangler.
Date:

Course:

Instructor:

Objectives:
The message is to tell my process in creating a logo, and the work
that goes into doing it.
Process:
This was created in Text Wrangler using HTML and CSS. The process
was first, to learn how to use tags and “boxes” to create a web
page. Once that was learned, I had to learn how HTML and CSS linktogether, and work together. Then it was learning how to center the
logo and add and change colors and fonts.
