"RESOLUTION ADOPTING WORST IDT LGU(s) BY TROPICAL CYCLONELANDO"

WHEREAS, Tropical Cyclone "Lando" (International name "Koppu") a category-fourstorm with 130 kph winds and gusts of 160 kph , struck Luzon Island of the Philippines onOctober 18,2015;

WHEREAS, Tropical Cyclone "Lando" is a unique cyclone that moves slowly hence, itcaused intense rains in some parts of the country;

WHEREAS, a number of Local Government Units in Luzon were flooded and ninetypercent (90%) of households were devastated, and infrastructures were damaged;

WHEREAS, a disaster of this magnitude requires all the needed assistance, support andhelp;

WHEREAS, the Metro Manila Council, on behalf of the people each of them serves,offers its sincerest support to all the Local Government Units distressed by Tropical Cyclone"Lando";

WHEREAS, Sec. 33 of the Local Government Code of 1991 provides for cooperativeUndertakings among Local Government Units by consolidating and coordinating their efforts,services and resources for purposes commonly beneficial to them;

WHEREAS, RA 7924 mandates the MMDA to formulate, coordinate, and monitorpolicies, standards, programs, and projects for implementation of programs, policies andprocedures to promote and safeguard good health and achieve public safety;

WHEREAS, the Metro Manila Council as one way of showing its sincerest supportresolves to adopt worst-hit LGU(s) by Tropical Cyclone "Lando" and endeavors to help themin their recovery and rehabilitation efforts;

NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved as it is hereby resolved, pursuant to Section 6 ofRA 7924, the Council hereby ADOPTS worst-hit LGU(s) by Tropical Cyclone "Lando" assister LGU and undertakes to help and assist the sister LGUs in their post-recoveryoperations.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that the MMDA shall be the lead coordinator in adoptingthe worst-hit LGU(s) by Tropical Cyclone "Lando".
