STRUCTURE OF PASSIVE SENTENCE
How to make a passive sentence?
SUBJECT+TO BE+PAST PARTICLEExample for:
- PRESENT SIMPLE: drink/s – am/is/are drunk- PAST SIMPLE: drank – was/were drunk- PRESENT PERFECT: have/has drunk – have/has been drunk- PAST PERFECT SIMPLE: had drunk - had been drunk - FUTURE WITH WILL: will drink – will be drunk - GOING TO FUTURE: am/is/are going to drink – am/is/are going to be
drunk- MODAL VERB SENTENCE:
SUB JECT+MODAL VERB+TO BE+PAST PARTICLE
. MUST : must drink / must be drunk . CAN : can drink/ can be drunk . SHOULD : should drink / should be drunk
CHANGE ACTIVE TO PASSIVE SENTENCE
Example of active sentence:
.The teacher take the bag-
. First we move the object to the subject position: The bag..
. Next, change the verb to the passive: The bag is taken…
. And the last step is move it to a position after the verb: The bag is taken by the teacher
EXAMPLES OF CHANGING ACTIVE TO PASSIVE
. ACTIVE : María swam all the swimmingpoll
. PASSIVE : All the swimmingpool was swum by María
.ACTIVE : The girl is going to spend the money
.PASSIVE : The money is going to be spent by the girl
.ACTIVE : My family has thought about that
.PASSIVE : About that has been thought by my family
.ACTIVE : The bird was singing a song
.PASSIVE : A song was being by the bird
. ACTIVE : I will eat a dessert
. PASSIVE : A dessert will be eaten by me
