Tubes• Two way transport: movement
from one end of the field to the other
• Linear strength: linear passes to create plays

Borders• Separation: the sidelines separate the field
from “out-of-bounds”• Defense and keeper act as “obstacles” that the
other team needs to pass through

Layers• Organization: different positions– Can be a 4-4-2, 4-3-3, etc.
• Power and control between the players• Functional wholes: each player can function
on their own, but put together, they make a team

Centers• The midfielders act as the center– They are mostly in the center of the
field– They direct play and act as both
offense and defense, holding the team together

Arrows• Flow of play • Sequence of plays that a
team puts together helps move the ball down the field in the direction they want it to go

Breaks• When players get subbed out;
changes the dynamics of the field• Half-time is a literal break. The team
can regroup and change their mindset and tactics.

Triggers• Certain actions/occurrences can trigger
actions by players– Ex:– Fights– Good sportsmanship– Foul play – Confidence boost (from a supportive crowd)
