Imagine if you had to die without help

And wait for months to die…till you rot while

you die.

You don’t die of major illness

Only a small wound, minor infection worsens

till you die

For thousands of Animals in Pune….

This is the harsh truth

300 sq km of Pune

And till we entered the scene the animals had

nowhere to go

This is what they go through…..

As we talk, as we debate

They are ‘hit and run’

And people just watch them die. It takes days

at time

Trains collide and injure them

And they lie anxiously hoping for some help.

Subjected to ‘little’ mischiefs

That have fatal consequences

Drenched with acid

Because someone thinks they are a

nuisance

Injured by gun shots

As they are easy targets

Ingest plastic

And then they lie untreated

Are dumped

While they are a few days old to die of thirst

and starvation

“stray” into the city

And are attacked or burnt alive

‘“Hanged” till death’

Without a crime. With no trial or defence.

Maggots

Insects eat the animal alive from inside till it is

dead

Overworked

‘Beasts of burden’ are burdened till their legs

give away.

And they fall down

They continue to suffer till they ultimately fall

down.

On the name of god

Their mouths are stitched and they

abandoned to die after ‘nagpanchami’

There is light at the end of the

tunnel.And an institution in

making that gives them hope.

Case #1 Severe Mange

Found with severe mange and weakness

in Jeevraksha.

This is three weeks into treatment.

After the treatment

After 4 weeks the dog is ready to go

Case # 2 Starving emusStrangers in tropical countries. These are

unfortunate victims of the scams that caused

penury to farmers.

Lonely and mourning

The male member would not eat or drink and actually mourn the

death of his mate

Pecked by own mates

But once settled in the shelter.

They are the new boss. They don’t move. Even stare at you as if telling

“WTF”

They are actually what you can call

“kick ass”They have kicked our

caretakers more than a dozen times.

Case # 3 Broken Jaw Puppy

Jaw fractured at 3 places

Fitted with surgical implants

After treatment

Case # 4 Tar stuck puppyCompletely covered by

tar

Solution Found

Dried up tar is removed best with a particular type of furnace oil.

Slowly and steadily

After our attempts to remove remaining tar

over the days.

5 weeks laterNot just that the tar is off his body his fur is

growing again. He should be ready to go in

2 weeks.

Case # 512th floor fall

This dog fell from 12th floor at the construction

site.

Unable to lift its neck

Was finding it hard to lift his neck on day1 or

able to chew.

A week later…

Started to eat soften food tried to lift his

neck.

Able to sit on it own

Case # 6 Regained Eyesight

Found as blind dogWhen was brought to

the centre it was unable to even lift its head.

Both eyes were severely infected.

Two weeks later..After some treatment and a good shampoo wash was able to see

things a little and even move around.

4 weeks later

Now is absolutely normal. Normal vision and normal walk and strides. He is going

everywhere he wants to. Even escaped from

the enclosure to be caught back at the

outer gates.

Case # 7 Rubber-band Victim

some children put rubber-band around a

pup, it outgrew it.

10 weeks of treatment

And the wound has gone, also the hair has

grown

But just love is not enough
