What is an E-Book?
An E-Book or Electronic Book is
not made of paper.
You read an E-Book from a computer or
special device called a Reader.

It is about 1 cm thick & weighs about ¼ kilo.

Forms or formats of E-Books
Sometimes an E-Book is a scan
of a paper book (PDF).
But sometimes an E-Book is
typed directly into a computer program (html).

Advantages & Disadvantages
E-Books do not take up space on
a book shelf.
You don’t have to go to the library.
You can read them from your computer.
You don’t have to wait until
somebody returns an E-Book to the
library.
![Page 6: PLUG-INs A Student’s Guide to Information Literacy](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/56815f78550346895dce8077/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Some people think E-Books are difficult to read. They say
they get a headache from looking at a computer all the
time.
E-Books can be expensive;
they are not free. And you need an
expensive computer or reader
too.
You cannot browse an
E-Book like a paper book.
But . . .
