JONTY AVEYARDDesign is all around us. I look at ob-jets and criticise the materials and manufacturing process so that I can place that understanding in my own work. I think that design is a big part of everyones life, even if people are to nieve to notice. I think it is import-ant for designers to find a neiche which I am still working towards.
Interests
Rugby I have played rugby since the age of 12. For the past 4 season I have been playing for Castleford RUFC where I was able to play open age rugby. This gave me the chance to converse with older and young-er players. In my first season, at the age of 17, I won the award of players player, young player of the season and my first team tie. This was a great achievement for a 17 year old.
Hiking I have completed various hikes such as the three peaks of Yorkshire at the age of 9. I also completed the Inka trail in Peru, which led us to Ma-chu Pichu.
Experience/Emplotyment Duke of Edinburgh (Bronze) - I was pro-posed the leader of a group of 4 where we had to create a route using an ordain sur-vey map. My charity work consisted of me working at cancer research and also having my own stall selling books at the weekend to complete the award. D.H.Wright - My first taste of real de-sign was when I completed my work experi-ence at D.H.Wright Purpose Joinery where I was placed with the Architectural division. Constar - Even though my role wasn’t that of a designer, I saw both sides of prod-uct manufacturing. The design and man-ufacture of the product. In this case it was manufacturing preforms for plastic bottles. Laboring with JP Construction, during a summer I worked as a laborer on building sites learning new skills of the trade. It was a good experience as it showed me how things where done in the trade. In the future, I too will be able to use the skills I acquired. Consultant Cleaning - For the past 4 years this was my weekend and evening job cleaning a large factory with a 24 hour shift pattern.

SkillsMy skills have been developed mas-sivley during my first year at univer-sitiy and I am still developing new skills. I can use various design soft-wares such as Solidworks, Alias and Rhino. Alias and Rhino are softwares which I have started to use in univer-sity and am still developing my skill set. I enjoy model making the most. The progression from sketching the idea to actually producing a model in a specified material, such as foam or plastic, is both interesting and satis-fying.
