Dining Room
The Burns Avenue home, built in 1926, had been renovated in the early 80’s and lost
the character of a late Craftsman-style dwelling.

Burns Avenue Craftsman House
Focusing on the Craftsman details turned this once dull interior into a timeless, serene space.

Burns Kitchen Design/Build
After
This family needed a better
working solution for their
three entryway, 9x11 non-
functioning 1920’s kitchen
The entryway to the dinning
room was removed and is
where the corner kitchen
sink is currently located
Both the before and after
pictures were taken in the
second entryway. The
before connected the
hallway and the after now
connects the living room
and dining room areas

Solution
The 2x2 chimney was removed and duct
work was run through the studs to free up
space for a new rollout pantry
The new design allows for two
people to work in the kitchen
at the same time.
Four semi-custom and thirteen
standard cabinets, along with
hidden features like a roll-out
garbage/recycle combo allows
for ample and efficient storage

Transitions Coffee Shop
The Hudson area bridges
the gap between Minnesota
& Wisconsin; urban &
rural, old & new, modern &
traditional, and inside &
out.
With cubistic inspiration
from Duchamp’s painting,
Nude Descending a
Staircase, combined with
symbolic representations
from nature, repetitive
sharp, curvilinear shapes
connected within clean
horizontal lines will help
emphasize the connection
of these conflicting
elements.
These and other juxtapositions of natural &
industrial materials, smooth & rough textures,
glossy& matte finishes , and tone & color
complements, have been implemented through
comfortable, versatile and enduring custom
furnishings and finishes.

Nature, in an island theme, was used as an inspiration for the flow throughout the space. Diagonals, curvy lines and a variety of different scale patterns and
texture combinations mimic the organic feel and shape of foliage.

Materials and Finishes Board
This condo, located in the former Creamette Building was designed
for executives visiting the General Mills Corporation. Corporate &
historical culture, such as the use of a grain grinding stone as a
coffee table, or the ”XXXX” a sign of flour quality was combined
with a more international feel in FF&E.

"It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to
make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very
atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do. To affect
the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts."
Henry David Thoreau

wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to
