Pilgrim Guide Book & Directory: Advertising Opportunity
We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book & Directory for the Church and School. This book will be the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of Pilgriml. The book is being provided at no cost to our Church and
School, including the mailing to each family, and again is being subsidized by local businesses that advertise in it. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please contact Elizabeth DeVries at 832-264-4958 or [email protected].
CCSC (Christian Community Service Center) Annual Food Drive - November 6th, 13th & 20th
Starting next week, in lieu of a monetary Chapel offering, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for CCSC on Nov. 6th, 13th and 20th. This is a great way that Pilgrim can give back to our community and help those in need. Please mark your calendars and consider donating items on any or all of these dates.
Each year we have a friendly competition between the girls and the boys to see who can bring the most non-perishable food. Who will win this year??
PTL Meeting Next Thursday, Nov. 14th!

Mark your calendars and invite your friends! Pilgrim will be host-ing a Middle School Preview on Wednesday, November 20th from 6-7pm. Come meet the teachers and visit the classrooms. Speak with the principal, admissions director and some recent alumni. The hour will start with a brief welcome and middle school overview, followed by an open house for 5th – 8th grades

Our best marketing comes from you, our parents, so bring a friend (or two) who are looking for an exceptional Middle School for 2014-15.
Renovation Update
Dear Parents, Our architects, VLK, met with the City of Houston's Permit Department last week. Some modifications were requested of the appraisal. That has been completed and VLK will meet with the City again this Tuesday morning. Please keep this process in your prayers. Thomas DeVries

for helping to make the Fall Festival
a GREAT SUCCESS!!
We are very grateful for all of our wonderful volunteers who helped pull the Fall Festival together and make it a great day for all of our families, friends and most of all the kids! We would not be able to do this without our parent volunteers. Thank you!
Very special thanks to Theresa Pollard, the Fall Festival Chair and mother of 5th grade student Orion Burkart. Theresa puts in countless hours to put the festival together and works very hard to make it special. Be sure to tell her “thank you” if you see her around campus! Theresa had some very special helpers who worked many evenings to get things ready. A big thank you to Mona & David Gonzalez, parents of Christian (Kind.), Noah (2nd) and Jordan (6th) and Dometria Molo, PS Teacher at Pilgrim and mother to Gabe (5th) and Cameron (8th). Thanks to all of the kids listed above too. They were here for many evenings as well helping their parents with everything they could. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
We appreciate all of our staff who helped as well. Our dedicated staff did a great job helping wherever they could! Thank you for your hard work as well!
We are also very grateful to our sponsors! Your sponsorship of booths helped us to keep the costs down and leave more money in the PTL for future projects like the playground! Thank you for your generosity!
Thank you to our generous sponsors…

Want to "Go Green?"
Have you been wondering, “Who is that guy at the front gate on Fridays?” He’s Pilgrim Lutheran Church member, Charles Percy. Charles salvages valuable metals from broken electronics and appliances. He accepts almost anything with metal in it, like TVs, VCRs, DVD players, fax machines, computers, monitors, microwaves, small kitchen appliances, anything with a power supply, power tools, old car batteries, window AC units, aluminum cans, you name it!
Items may be dropped off at the parking lot gate on Fridays before and after school, or your may contact Charles if you have a large item that needs to be picked up.

Not only does Charles help out by giving you and place to take your “junk” but he also recycles all of the metal from the items brought in, and he donates ALL of the proceeds back to Pilgrim Lutheran School.
So far this program has brought almost $550.00 to the school.

Chess After School Activity
This year we added a new after school activity for our Kindergarten - 8th grade students. Stormy Newton, a licensed Texas state teacher, has started a program at Pilgrim that is off to a great start! He would like to extend the offer to join again for those who may not have heard about the program.
The after school Chess program is held on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 4:30pm for students in Kindergarten - 8th grade. The Fall Semester is $175 and the Spring semester is $200. If you are interested in having your student play Chess, Mr. Newton is offering $50 off the Fall Semester price making it $125. This price includes a Chess Set and bag, for extended activities including home assignments.
If you are interested in enrolling, please email Mr. Newton at [email protected] with your child’s name and preferred contact information. Please include that your child attends Pilgrim Lutheran School.
Checks can be dropped off at the school office and should be made out to “Stormy Newton”.
This is a great new addition to our after school program that exercises the brain! Studies on those who play Chess have revealed improved problem solving skills, improved concentration, helps with planning and foresight, helps with memory and increases creativity! These are all helpful skills for everyone and especially a student!
