PRESS  RELEASE:  SolarDock  earns  Class  A  Fire  Rating

SolarDock  transforms  Class  C  modules  into  a  Class  A  Fire  Rated  PV  System

July  7,  2014  –  SolarDock  has  successfully  completed  the  Fire  Resistance  Tests  required  by  UL  1703  and  the  proposed  UL  2703  standard  for  solar  mounting  and  racking  systems,  earning  a  Class  A  Fire  Rating.  The  tests  were  conducted  by  TUV  Rheinland  PTL  with  a  Class  A  roof  deck  and  Class  C  photovoltaic  modules  from  Motech.

SolarDock's  unique  pan-‐based  design  successfully  resisted  the  spread  of  fire  on  a  rooftop,  earning  a  Class  A  Fire  Rating  for  the  following  Fire  Resistance  Tests:

• Spread  of  Flame  -‐  SolarDock  system  reduced  the  spread  of  flame  by  more  than  60%.  • Burning  Brand  -‐  Enclosed  system  prevented  brands  from  falling  onto  or  burning  test  roof

deck.

“With  several  high  profile  fires  in  the  last  year,  there  has  been  increasing  scrutiny  of  the  solar  industry’s  role  in  fire  safety,"  said  Scott  Johnson,  Founder  of  SolarDock.  "That  is  why  SolarDock  made  completing  the  UL  1703/2703  Fire  Performance  Tests  its  focus  for  2014.    Now,  with  the  Motech/SolarDock  Class  A  Fire  Rating,  solar  installers  nationwide  no  longer  have  to  wait  for  the  industry  to  catch  up  to  local  and  national  building  code  fire  rating  requirements.”

SolarDock's  Class  A  fire  rating  brings  it  into  compliance  with  California  building  code  requirements  that  become  mandatory  on  January  1,  2015,  as  well  as  new  International  Building  Code  (IBC)  2012  requirements  that  are  currently  being  adopted  on  a  state-‐by-‐state  basis.
