Process Journal Entry Checklist In addition to the prompts below, your process journal is a place to keep track of your learning and your decision making process. You can upload entries at any time!
To demonstrate and keep track of your learning process, you can:
• write entries in paragraph form • put your ideas into charts/tables • draw or sketch your thinking in a notebook and take a picture • record your voice • record a video of yourself • post websites
Completed Subject/Prompt Notes Process Journal
Entry #1: Prior Knowledge
Discuss: o why you picked your topic in terms of personal
interest and passion o how your project relates to a specific subject (have
you learned anything in class that relates to your project?)
o someone in your life that inspired your project
Process Journal Entry #2: Research Plan
o your method of keeping track of information (system that will help you keep track of your questions, answers and source citations)
o Share your detailed research plan (calendar, outline, mentors, etc.)
o What have been your strengths and weaknesses during research projects in the past? Any ideas on how to improve this time?
Process Journal Entry #3: Possible Products/Outcomes
o Brainstorm as many products/outcomes as you can think of that will help you achieve your goal.
o Brainstorm ways you might evaluate your product/outcome. How do you know you met your goal?
Process Journal Entry #4: Goal Evaluation
o How challenging is your goal? Explain. o Is there any way to make it more or less challenging?
Process Journal Entry #5: Summer Research Reflection
What did you do over the summer related to your project? Explain:
o in terms of time management o in terms of excitement/interest o in terms of learning

Think of this like an annotated bibliography. Discuss:
o what you learned from a source o how useful it was o how it changed or impacted your knowledge,
perspective, beliefs, interest level, and/or project direction
o if it led you to another source
