Psalm 42Verses 1-5
2
As in its thirst a fainting hartTo water brooks doth flee,
So pants my longing soul, O God,That I may come to Thee.
3
My soul for God, the living God,Is thirsting; shall I near
Before the face of God approachAnd in His sight appear?
4
My tears have unto me been foodBoth in the night and day,
While unto me countinu’lly,“Where is you God?” they say.
5
Poured out within me is my soulWhen this I think upon:
How often with the eager throngI rev’rently had gone.
6
How to the house of God I wentWith voice of joy and praise,
Yea, with the multitude that keptThe solemn holy days.
7
O why, my soul, art thou bowed down?Why so discouraged be?
Hope now in God! I’ll praise Him still!My help, my God is He!

Psalm 42Verses 6-11
10
O God, my soul’s cast down in me;I Thee remember will
From Jordan land, from Hermon’s height,And ev’n from Mizar hill.
11
With thunder of Thy waterfallsDeep unto deep doth call;
Thy billows all roll over me;On me Thy breakers fall.
12
And yet Jehovah will commandHis mercy in the day;
By night His song shall be with me;To God, my Life, I’ll pray.
13
To God Who is my rock I’ll say,“O why forget me so?
Beneath oppression of my foesWhy do I mourning go?”
14
As with a sword within my bonesMy enemies upbraid,
While unto me, “Where is Thy God?”Continu’lly is said.
15
O why, my soul art thou bowed down?Why so discouraged be?
Hope now in God! I’ll praise Him still!My Help, my God is He!
