MR.DENNISLANGEVINreceivedhisBachelorofMusicfromtheUniversityofNorthTexasin1997.Sincethen,hehasdirectedorchestrasinNorthTexasfortwentyyearsandiscurrentlyinhiseighteenthyearasDirectorofOrchestrasatHendrickMiddleSchoolinPlanoISD.HisorchestrashaveconsistentlyreceivedSweepstakesratingsatUILcompetitionsandSuperiorratingsatlocalfestivals.Mr.LangevinishonoredtobeapreviousHendrickMiddleSchoolExperiencedTeacheroftheYear,apastrecipientoftheNationalSchoolOrchestraAssociation(NSOA)andTexasAmericanStringTeachersAssociation's (TexASTA)MarjorieKellerOutstandingYoungOrchestraDirectorAward,and ishonoredtohavebeenrecognized inWho’sWhoAmongAmerica’sTeachers.HeisalsoproudoftheHendrickChamberOrchestra‘sselectionasthe2009thirdrunnerupintheTMEAhonororchestracompetition–atremendousaccomplishmentforthesestudents.Mr.Langevinisamemberofseveralprofessionalmusicassociationsandhasservedasaclinician,conductorandadjudicatorinmanyoftheschooldistrictsinNorthTexasaswellasmanyRegionsaroundthestate.Hehasapassionformusiceducationandlovestosharethegiftofmusicwithyoungmusiciansandcolleagues.Bynight,Mr.LangevinisafreelancemusicianinNorthTexas,performingatmanyprofessionaltheatersandvenues,andcanalsobeseenworkingbehindthescenesonasoundboard.Hehasalsoenjoyedbeingamemberofseveraljazzensemblesandchurchworshipbands.Mr.LangevinlivesinMcKinneywithhiswife,Becky,andenjoyshangingoutwithhisretiredFlyballdogsandhistwochildren–Danielle,aconfident4yearoldANDAlec,Danielle’s2yearoldlittlebrotherwhoadoreshisbigsister.

DR.MICHAELALEXANDERisAssociateProfessorofStringMusicEducationatBaylorUniversity.Hejoinedthefacultyin2006after22yearsofteachingorchestraatStratfordHSinHouston,Texas.HeholdsdegreesfromSouthwesternUniversity(BME),SamHoustonStateUniversity(MM),andtheUniversityofHouston(DMA).HisdutiesatBaylorincludesupervisingstringstudentteachers,instructioninclassroomstringpedagogy,directingtheBaylorStringProject,andconductingtheBaylorCampusOrchestra.Alexanderhasservedasclinician/conductoracrosstheUnitedStateswithseveralengagementsinEurope.Hehaspresentedhisresearchonstringsight-reading,tuning,andimprovisationatstate,national,andinternationalsymposia.HehasservedasPresidentoftheTexasOrchestraDirectorsAssociationandOrchestraVice-PresidentoftheTexasMusicEducatorsAssociation.Awardsinclude:HoustonSymphonySchoolBellAwardforExcellenceinTeaching,ASTAElizabethA.H.GreenAward,UniversityofHoustonOutstandingMusicAlumnus,TODAOrchestraDirectoroftheYear,andBaylorOutstandingProfessorAward.Hehasco-authoredOrchestraExpressions(bks1and2),ExpressiveTechniquesforOrchestra,andExpressiveSight-ReadingforOrchestra.HisresearchispublishedintheJournalofResearchinMusicEducation,UPDATE:ApplicationsofResearch inMusicEducation, theStringResearch Journal, TexasMusicEducationResearch, theAmericanStringTeacher,and the SouthwesternMusician.Heandhiswife,Suzanne,havethreeboys:Reed,William,andJohn.

MR.KEVINBLACKhasbeentheAssistantDirectorofOrchestrasatClearLakeHighSchoolsince2005.Withhiscolleagueandfriend,BryanBuffaloe,ClearLakeOrchestrashaveearnedthehonorofbeingnamedtheTMEAHighSchoolHonorOrchestrasthreetimes.In2013,theorchestrawasawardedwiththeNationalOrchestraGoldcup,anhonorwhichtheyhopetorepeatthisspringastheyperforminLincolnCenterinNewYorkCity.Duringhiscareer,hehasalsoservedasDirectorofOrchestrasinPasadenaISDandClearCreekISD,mostnotablyatClearCreekHighSchoolandSpaceCenterIntermediate.DuringhistenureatSpaceCenterIntermediate,hisprogramdoubledfrom55studentsto120.TheorchestraswererecognizedasafinalistintheTMEAMiddleSchoolStringHonorOrchestracontest,andwereconsistentUILSweepstakeswinners.AtClearCreekHighSchool,hisprogramtripledfrom32studentsto91inthespanofthreeyears.Duringhistenure,theywereawardedUILachievementsforthefirsttimeinsixyears,andthefirstsweepstakesawardineightyears.Mr.BlackearnedhisB.M.Ed.fromSUNYPotsdam(CraneSchoolofMusic)inwhichhestudiedcellounderJulianTryczynskiandDr.AngelaMylesBeeching.HisprofessorsincludenotableeducationalcomposersRichardStephan,ElliotDelBorgoandRobertWashburn.DuringhistimeatCrane,hehadtheuniqueopportunitytostudyasthecontinuocellistforthestudioofPatriciaMisslin,whereheaccompaniedfutureMetropolitanOperasingersStephanieBlytheandMargaretLattimore.HealsoholdsaM.M.inCelloPerformancefromtheUniversityofAkron,studyingcellowithMichaelHaber,formerlyoftheClevelandOrchestra,andchambermusicwithAlanBodman,oftheMeadowmountSchoolofMusic.In2010,Mr.BlackwasawardedafellowshipwithTheFundforTeachers®andusedhisgrantfundstostudychambermusicattheSt.LawrenceStringQuartetChamberMusicSeminaratStanfordUniversity.WhileinPaloAlto,heparticipatedinanintenseweekofcoachingandperformanceswithmembersoftheSt.LawrenceQuartet,theGryphonTrio,andnotablepianist,StephenPrutsman.Inadditiontothisfestival,hisfavoritemomentsinhiscareerincludeconductinginCarnegieHall,NewYork,in2006andSymphonyHall,Chicago,in2010.Mr.Blackattributeshisloveoftheartsandeducationtohisparents,whoraisedhiminamusicalhome.Hisfather,atenorwiththeSyracuseOperaandmiddleschoolchoirdirector,andhismother,avisualartist/educatorandpianist/organist,capturedhisinterestbyenrollinghimincellolessonswhenhewas8andpercussionlessonswhenhewas9.HelivesinClearLakewithhiswife,Lea,andtheirfamily.HeisactiveinTMAA,TMEA,andTODA,andisanactiveclinicianasacellistandaconductor.Inaddition,heisafreelancecellistandenjoysperformingthroughouttheGreaterHoustonarea.
