LEADERS IN SAFETY
a new safety benchmark
Proprietary ceramic thermal insulation housing enables fail-safe battery packs that are optimised for increased performance at higher ambient operating temperatures for use in residential, grid and transportation applications.
The thermal isolating housing enables a closely packed jelly roll configuration without cascading failure. Novel and proprietary, this non-combustible ceramic fibre material formulation provides very high levels of fire retardant. In addition, the thermal isolation is sufficient to allow large jelly rolls with no roll-to-roll runaway and optimised electrolyte formula enables improved performance at higher ambient temperatures.
Battery failures typically happen when;
• A manufacturing defect or mechanical impact causes an internal short circuit
• A failure in charging protection causes an overcharge
• Excessive currents when charging or discharging
• A failure in external short protection causes an external short circuit
While the rate of field failure is statistically low, the number of cells employed in commercial installations means it's likely some failure will occur.
An industry standard 1MWh Li-Ion Battery is made up of around 144,000 cells with the potential of 420 cells catching fire at some point in their life. At utility scale, an example such as the Hornsdale Wind Farm in SA which is a 309MWh installation and is made up of approximately 45 million cells, sets the heart racing!
External battery safety systems can not mitigate internal shorts.
While a battery management system (BMS) helps the battery stay within its operating boundaries, it does not protect against internal shorts or improve the quality of cells beyond how they were originally manufactured.

3% risk of thermal runaway is unacceptable at utility scale
Thermal runaway occurs in situations where an increase in temperature changes the conditions in a way thats causes a further increase in temperature, often leading to a destructive result.
Patented Supercell prevention;
• Pressure Disconnect Device (PDD) activates and fuse cuts off electrical path to all jelly-rolls
• Vent opens to release pressure and remove hot gases resulting in no ability to heat neighbouring components
• Housing material absorbs and isolates heat which prevents thermal propagation
• Supercell cools down in a safe temperature regime with no possibility to reignite.

We address the challenge of hot climate operation from the ground up.
