TheRe’S a place noT far off yet a world away, a place where
personal passions are played out every day and every night.
Reno Tahoe USA is a place where kayaks and climbing walls share the same stage as casinos and cabarets. It’s where PGA-caliber courses stretch from high deserts to stunning lakes and where
world-class spas call out to those in search of simpler pleasures. It’s where you can check out the cars of James Dean, John Wayne and Frank Sinatra, dance to reggae on the river in the middle of a white water kayaking competition, sip your first pomegranate poinsettia martini, hunt for ghosts in an Old West cemetery, and inhale a burger as big
as your head — all in the same day. It’s where life’s fans gather for
those games, festivals and events that remind us of the importance of a moment lived well. Most of all, it’s where passions thrive at every point of the compass.
Reno Tahoe USA. What’s your passion?

perfect place to embrace your passion for the outdoors. Looking for the ultimate view? Pack a summit picnic and climb to the top of 10,776-foot Mount Rose. Rent a mountain bike or bring your own and take on The Flume Trail, arguably the most stunning bike ride on the planet. Experience
the thrill of the catch, fishing the Truckee for browns, brookies, rainbows and cutthroat. Or grab your golf clubs and take advan-tage of the thin mountain air for what may be the longest drives and best game of your life. With championship courses to suit every budget and a wide range of terrain – from high desert beauty to storybook forests – you’re just
a chip shot away from an unforget-table day on the links.
And did we mention that we also boast the largest concentration of ski resorts in all of North America, plus an après-ski tradition as legendary as the slopes themselves? However you want to tackle the snow – by ski, board, snowshoe, snowmobile, sleigh or tube – Reno Tahoe USA has the perfect terrain for you.

Tahoe USA may not be the first destination that springs to mind. Well, that’s a shame because this little corner of the earth has experienced an arts and culture boom over the last few years.
The Riverwalk Arts District in downtown Reno is home to a thriving collection of artistic communities, shops, galleries,
theaters and social gatherings. Take a short stroll to the acclaimed Nevada Museum of Art or cruise on over to the National Automobile Museum.
Check out the talents of the Reno Philharmonic, Nevada Opera and Reno Chamber Orchestra. Gather the family and head to The Nevada Discovery Museum, where learning and fun are rolled into one. Or hit the beach for
the unforgettable Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.
Oh, and don’t forget the coolest party on the planet – Burning Man. Once a year, over 50,000 participants gather to be part of an experimental community – Black Rock City – in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert just north of Reno for this annual event dedicated to art, self-expression . . . and burning stuff.

leT’S face IT. eveRy desti-nation claims to have special
events. Here in Reno Tahoe USA, events fall more into the category of extraordinary. Take the spring and summer season, where visitors are treated to an eye-popping, taste bud-tantalizing, hair-raising event practically every week. The rest of the year brings you even more events that celebrate the
snow, the sun, and pretty much everything in between.
Speaking of celebrations, nobody knows how to throw a party like Reno Tahoe USA. There are parades down the streets of Reno, Sparks, Virginia City and Lake Tahoe that range from the Street Vibrations motorcycle rally to Hot August Nights, the West Coast’s largest classic car event.
People also are really passionate about competing around here. From racing camels to hot air balloons to outhouses, you’re sure to find someone or something to cheer on. Plus, there’s always an appetite for food competitions, including the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off and, for you adventurous types, the Mountain Oyster Festival.

IT’S TRUe ThaT Reno has a tendency to stay up all night.
With 24-hour gaming action, concerts, comedians, bars, clubs, stage shows, ultralounges and more, who can blame us? Needless to say, it’s sometimes best to grab a power nap before you hit the town . . . because it may be the only sleep you get.
For concert-lovers, there’s
always a great show getting ready to crank the volume up to eleven, including free shows through-out the summer at Rollin’ on the River in downtown Reno or the weekly Sparks Farmers’ Market on Victorian Avenue.

pyRamId lake and geRlachpyramid lake is one crazy-cool place. dissolved minerals in the water have formed the area’s fanciful rock formations, including the towering stone pyramid on the eastern shore, and give the lake a look that can only be described as “exotic.” all of pyramid is within the reservation of the pyramid lake paiute Tribe, which has been living along its shores for cen-turies. you can explore the tribe’s history and culture at the pyramid lake museum & visitor center in nixon at the south end of the lake. pyramid is a component of the national Scenic byways program and also happens to be a classic spot for fish-ing and boating. If you’re planning a trip here, why not take it a bit farther and head to gerlach? This small desert town is the gateway to the black Rock desert, home of the burning man festival and a beacon for speed freaks. In 1997 on the flat playa, an over-amped hybrid of rocket and racecar became the first land vehicle to crack the speed of sound.

RIveRwalk & aRTS dISTRIcTevery city has a place that refuses to blend in. Reno’s Riverwalk & arts district is just such a place. It runs from the Riverwalk along the Truckee River to california avenue just a few short blocks south, much of the route defined by 60 wind-driven kinetic copper and steel sculptures mounted on light poles. you just never know what you’ll discover in the shops, galleries, coffee houses, museums and restau-rants that line the river and the calave neighborhood. visit the nevada museum of art, enjoy a concert at the wingfield park amphitheater, check out the 11 drop-pools at the Truckee River whitewater park, see the famous collection at the national automobile museum, take in a production at the brüka Theatre or explore the nevada discovery museum for fun family-based learning. classic and contemporary architecture offer a distinct backdrop and add to the charm of this district that begs to be explored.

a paSSIon foR mUSIc. a pas-sion for great food. A passion
for sunshine. A passion for winning. There are plenty of different pas-sions to go around here, but one thing we’re pretty sure everyone’s passionate about is taking it easy. Reno Tahoe is the perfect escape because we’re so convenient and so worry-free in so many ways.
There are 15,000 hotel rooms within five miles of the city center, and the convention center rests just five minutes from the airport. A mere 40-minute drive gets you to one of the world’s most spec-tacular recreational natural won-ders – Lake Tahoe. We don’t have that major metropolitan traffic congestion and unlike many other
destinations, parking isn’t a night-mare. In other words, we make it easy to get around, so you can spend less time en route and more time pursuing your passion.
To help you on your journey, we’ve even provided some handy maps on the following pages . . . so you can get to the good stuff even faster.

check oUT all aIRlIne flights serving the Reno-Tahoe
International Airport by going to VisitRenoTahoe.com and clicking on “Getting Here” or do a keyword search: Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
If you’re hitting the road to get here, Reno and Sparks are located at the junction of Interstate 80 and U.S. 395. I-80 provides all-weather access across Donner Summit from
central and northern California. From southern California, it’s a straight shot up U.S. 395 along the dramatic eastern front of the Sierra Nevada. From the north-west, take I-5 south to I-80 or, in the spring and summer, opt for the scenic shortcut that leaves I-5 at Mount Shasta and follows California 89 and 44 southeast through Susanville.
A third option is AMTRAK’s
California Zephyr, which arrives daily from the Bay Area and Sacramento to the west and Salt Lake and Denver to the east. Trains from the northwest, coastal south-ern California and the Central Valley connect to the Zephyr in Sacramento.
