INFORMATION
WELCOME TO SHEFFIELD BOTANICAL GARDENS. This 19 acre landscape was originally laidout in 1836 by Robert Marnock, a leadingVictorian horticulturalist and landscapedesigner. He was known for the‘Gardenesque’ style, which featuredwinding paths and scattered plantingsamong tree-planted mounds.
The Gardens are listed by English Heritageas a Grade II site of special historic andarchitectural interest. They underwent amajor restoration programme which wascompleted in 2005. This has put backmuch of the original design andrejuvenated the plant collections.
The site is gently sloping and most pathsare accessible to wheelchairs. Where thereare steps, an alternative path is availablefor wheelchair users.THE PAVILIONS
The stunning glass pavilions house acollection of plants from the temperateregions of the world. 90 metres long andcontaining thousands of panes of hand-blown glass, the pavilions have beenrestored to exacting standards with highquality materials.
RIDDLE TRAILThere are eight artworks, each containinga riddle, starting at the Curator’s House.Solve the clues to find your way aroundthe Gardens.

•No climbing on trees and gardenfeatures
•No parking except for disabled parking,which is available at the ThompsonRoad entrance.

THE PLANT COLLECTIONSThe Gardens contain a huge variety ofplants, both native and exotic, and arehome to the National Collections ofWeigela, Diervilla andSarcococca.Theplants are grouped into 13 different gardenareas, each with a different geographicalor botanical theme.
