BASIC SAFETY RULES
To drive the vehicle it is necessary to be inpossession of al l the requirements
prescr ibed by law (dr iv ing l icence, minimum age, psychophysical ability, insurance, state taxes, vehicle registration, number plate, etc.).
Gradually get to know the vehicle bydriving it first in areas with low traffic and/orprivate areas.
The use of medicins, alcohol and drugs orpsychotropic substances notably increasesthe risk of accidents.
Be sure that you are in goodpsychophysical conditions and fit fordriving and pay particular attention tophysical weariness and drowsiness.
Most road accidents are caused by thedrivers lack of experience.
NEVER lend the vehicle to beginners and,
in any case, make sure that the driver hasall the requirements for driving.

Never change the position, inclination orco lour o f : number p la te , d i rect ionindicators, lights and horns.
Any modification of the vehicle will result inthe invalidity of the warranty.
Any modification of the vehicle and/or theremoval of original components cancompromise vehicle performance levels
and safety or even make it illegal. We recommend respecting all regulationsand national and local provisions regardingthe equipment of the vehicle.
In particular, avoid all modifications thatincrease the vehicles performance levelsor alter its original characteristics.
Never race with other vehicles.
Avoid off-road driving.
CLOTHING
Before starting, always wear a correctlyfastened crash helmet. Make sure that it is
homologated, in good shape, of the rightsize and that the visor is clean.
Wear protective clothing, preferably in lightand/or reflecting colours. In this way youwill make yourself more visible to the otherdrivers, thus notably reducing the risk ofbeing knocked down, and you will be moreprotected in case of fall.
This clothing should be very tight-fittingand fastened at the wrists and ankles;
strings, belts and ties should not behanging loose; prevent these and otherobjects from interfering with driving bygetting entangled with moving parts ordriving mechanisms.

Do not keep objects that can be dangerousin case of fall, for example pointed objectslike keys, pens, glass vials etc. in yourpockets (the same recommendations alsoapply to passenger).
ACCESSORIES
The owner of the vehicle is responsible forthe choice, installation and use of any
accessory.Avoid installing accessories that coverhorns or lights or that could impair theirfunctions, limit the suspension stroke andthe steering angle, hamper the operation ofthe controls and reduce the distance fromthe ground and the angle of inclination inturns.Avoid using accessories that hamperaccess to the controls, since this can makereact ion t imes longer dur ing anemergency.Big fairings and windshields installed onthe vehicle may produce aerodynamicforces that affect the stability of the vehicle, especially when riding at high speed.
Make sure that the equipment is wellfastened to the vehicle and not dangerouswhen driving.
Do not install electrical devices and do notmodify those already existing to avoidelectrical overloads, because the vehiclecould suddenly stop or there could be adangerous current shortage in the horn andin the lights.aprilia recommends the use of genuineaccessories (aprilia genuine accessories).
LOAD
Be careful and moderate when loadingyour luggage. Keep any luggage loaded asclose as possible to the center of gravity ofthe vehicle and distribute the load evenlyon both s ides, in order to reduceunbalance to the minimum. Furthermore, make sure that the load is firmly secured tothe vehicle, especially during long trips.

CAUTIONHave coolant changed at an apriliaOfficial dealer.
Coolant mixture is a 50% solution of water
and anti-freeze.This is the ideal solution for most operatingtemperatures and provides good corrosionprotection.
This solution is also suited to the warmseason, as the mixture is less prone toevaporative loss and will reduce the needfor top-ups. In addit ion, less waterevaporation means fewer mineral saltsdepositing in the radiator, which helps
preserve the efficiency of the coolingsystem.
When temperature drops below zerodegrees centigrade, check the coolingsystem frequently and add more anti-freeze (up to 60% maximum) to thesolution.
Use distilled water in the coolant mixture.Tap water will damage the engine.
WARNINGDo not remove the expansion tank plug(1) when the engine is hot, sincecoolant is very hot.Contact with skin or clothes, may causesevere scalding and/or damage.

CHECKING AND TOPPING UP
WARNINGWait for the engine to cool down beforechecking or topping up coolant level.
Stop the engine and wait until it hascooled down.
Hold the vehicle upright, with bothwheels on the ground.
Look through the slot (1) in the rightfairing and check that coolant level in theexpansion tank is between the "FULL"and "LOW" marks.
FULL = maximum level
LOW = minimum level
If not so:
Remove the side fairing, see page 82(REMOVING THE SIDE FAIRINGS).
Unscrew and remove the filler cap (2).
WARNINGCoolant is toxic when ingested. Contactwith eyes or skin may cause irritation.Do not put your fingers or any otherobject into the filler opening in order toensure that there is coolant.
CAUTIONDo not add any additives or otherproducts.
If you use a funnel or other tool, ensurethey are perfectly clean.
Top up with coolant, see page 117(LUBRICANT CHART) up to just below the"FULL" mark. Never top up beyond the"FULL" level mark or coolant will leak outwhen the engine is running.
Refit the filler cap (2).
CAUTIONIf coolant level drops too quickly or thetank is empty, check the cooling circuitfor leaks. Have the leak repaired at anaprilia Official dealer.

TYRES
This vehicle is fitted with tubeless tyres.
NOTE Halve service intervals when thevehicle is used in rainy or dusty conditions,on rough roads or for racing.
WARNING
Check the tyre condition and inflationpressure at room temperature every twoweeks.Check the tyre condition and inflationpressure at room temperature after thefirst 1000 km (625 mi) and every twoweeks af terwards, see page 113(TECHNICAL DATA).
Checking pressure on hot tyres willresult in inaccurate measurement.
Take care to check tyre pressuresbefore and after a long journey.
An overinflated tyre will provide a harshride, reduce riding comfort and stabilitywhen cornering.
An underinflated tyre will extend thecontact patch to include a larger portionof the tyre wall (1). When this is thecase, the tyre may slip on or become
separated from the rim, leading to lossof control.
The tyre may even come off the rimunder hard braking.
Lastly, the vehicle may skid in a bend.
WARNINGInspect tread surface and check forwear. Badly worn tyres adversely affectroad holding and handling.
Some of the tyre types approved for thisvehicle are fitted with wear indicators.
There are var ious types of wearindicators.
Enquire about the correct wearinspect ion procedure with yoursupplier.
Visually inspect the tyres for wear andhave them changed when worn.
A tyre that becomes punctured in thetread area should be changed when thepuncture is larger than 5 mm.
The wheel must be balanced after eachtyre repair.
WARNINGUse tyres of the specified type andmodel recommended by themanufacturer , see page 113(TECHNICAL DATA). Using other thanspecified tyres may adversely affecthandling.
Never use tube tyres on tubeless tyrerims, or vice versa.
Always check that the caps are in placeon the valves (2), or the tyres maydeflate suddenly.
Tyre replacement and repair, as well aswheel servicing and balancing aredelicate operations. They should becarried out using adequate tools andare best left to experienced mechanics.
Have your tyres and wheels serviced atan apr i l ia Off icial dealer or aspecialised tyre repairer.
New tyres may be coated with an oilyfilm. Drive carefully until coveringseveral kilometres. Never apply non-specific products to the tyres. Old tyresmay not ensure full grip due to materialageing - even when they are still within
the wear limit - and must be replaced.
