FOR THE RIDE HOME First Reading: Is 49: 3, 5-6 Second Reading: 1 Cor 1:1-3 Gospel: Jn 1: 29-34
Baptism is the sacrament of life in the Spirit, a life of deference to God. Who has shown you a life lived in deference to God's will? How has that person inspired you to do the same?
John lived his life in deference to the One God would point out. He lived most of that life in igno-rance of the final outcome, but in hope God would make that outcome plain. His life gives us a prima-ry example of Christian humility, living in defer-ence to God's will. John was truly the humble wit-ness.
This gospel shows us the two dimensions of humble witness, the sight of faith and the witness to God's power. Where do you see God working in your life this week? Who have you told about God's activity?

Pantry: Parish Outreach is very blessed to have such a giving and caring community of believers here at St. Elizabeth. Thank you for always reach-ing out when asked to help others who are in need. Blood Drive: St. Elizabeth will hold its 1st blood drive of the year on Sunday, February 5, 2017 after all the masses. Clothing: On the third Wednesday of every month from 12:30-2:00 tables of clothing are put out for anyone in need. If anyone knows someone who could use clothing, please pass this information on to them. Special Thanks: to Jason Smith of Boy Scout Troop 336 who spent many hours collecting bags of food for our food pantry. Your hard work is much appreciated. God Bless.
Prayer Blanket Ministry Meetings are held on Saturdays from 9:30am to
12:30pm. Next meeting is Saturday,
January 28th . New members are always welcome. Come join this exciting ministry—we create prayer blankets, lap robes, baby blankets,
preemie hats, Christmas stockings, “pink scarves”, etc. and donate them to various organizations,
nursing homes, etc. We also share ideas, patterns and offer instruction for anyone wishing to learn to knit or crochet or brush up on their skills. For more information call the Parish Outreach. If you have yarn to donate, we will gladly accept it
and use it.
SCRIPTURE SHARING
Scripture Sharing will continue on Wednesday’s at 7:30pm in the Chapel.
Led by Deacon David Vallone and Bob Freudenberg
There are many ways to learn about
scripture: commentaries, biblical courses, homilies and reading the passages’
annotations about the words or phrases. We will be primarily learning the scriptures
using the ancient forms of prayer: Lectio Divina (Divine Reading) and/or
Contemplation.
We invite you to join us as we pray the scriptures for the upcoming Sunday and
listen. Prayer is not only about us talking to God; it’s also about us listening to God
through his word.
PARISH OPEN MEETING
The purpose of this meeting is to provide the Bishop with the future of
the Parish needs and the qualities you would like to see in a new Pastor.
All are welcome to attend.
