Local Economic Development

Sanctuary Development Bringing Retail, Entertainment Venue• The Village of Salado has approved a development agreement and rezoning for The

Sanctuary, but no plats have been submitted at this time• The Sanctuary is a 297 acre mixed-use development with plans including retail, office space,

a hotel, a 40,000 sq.ft. outdoor entertainment venue, multi-family and single family homes• The retail and commercial sites are along I-35 and FM 2268• The first phase of the development will feature retail sites and the entertainment venue, and

is expected to open in 2018, pending completion of the wastewater treatment plant• The competition of the $8.2 million wastewater treatment plant could bring additional

developer interest to Salado

• The unemployment rate in Bell County is below 4.5%.

• The median new home sale price within Salado ISD is more than $280,000.

• Roughly 15% of district home sales are of new homes.

• There are currently more than 1,000 planned future lots within Salado ISD.

• By 2020/21 all four campuses will be over current capacity.

• About 14% of the student body resides outside of Salado ISD, with 246 transfers into the district in 2016/17. This is double the number of transfers from 2013/14.

• Salado ISD is expected to add 444 students in the next five years, for a fall 2021 enrollment of 2,198.

• The district will enroll more than 2,700 students by 2026.
