Troubleshooting
• Units use either the operating lights on the Indoor (High Wall) or fault codes on the wired remote controller
OR• 3 LED’s on the Outdoor
unit PCB to show what fault has occurred, error codes can be seen on both main PCB and also test operation PCB

Outdoor Error Codes in detail
• Comp Starting Error (E461)
• Cause :• Compressor wire trouble (disconnect etc.)
• Cycle pressure unbalance at the compressor
( Pressure difference between discharge and suction )
• Compressor trouble ( locking)
• PCB trouble (IPM open mode failure etc.)
Outdoor Error Codes in detail
• Compressor Lock Error
• Compressor is not running despite being energized. The compressor has a rotational sensor that will tell the unit if it is running or not
Unit will try to restart 3 times before displayed error code (each restart will have a 3 minute time delay)
Causes – failed Compressor, liquid slugging
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• DC Link Voltage Under/Over – Voltage across C101, 102 &
103 on the Outdoor PCB is out of range
Causes – Mains voltage spikes or brown outs, Compressor slugging liquid, bad Outdoor PCB
• Outdoor Temp Sensor Error – unit cannot read the resistance of the sensor, check with Multi meter – same curve as Indoor Temp sensors
40 DegF = 23,000Ω
60 DegF = 16,200Ω
80 DegF = 9,300Ω
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• Discharge Over Temp Error – Discharge temperature is out
of range, if it is too high this can damage the oil and the compressor
Causes – Undercharge, Refrigerant leak, failed EEV
To check EEV use a multi meter to check the resistance of the EEV solenoid coil – it has 6 separate taps which allow it to have 480 steps of movement
COIL resistance 46±2Ω(68F)

Outdoor Error Codes in detail• Discharge Temp Sensor Error – unit cannot read the
resistance of the sensor, check with Multi meter
100 DegF = 124,000Ω
120 DegF = 85,000Ω
140 DegF = 59,000Ω
• Current Sensor Error – Current draw of the unit is excessive, especially on initial start up
Causes – Mains Power problem, Outdoor Coil blocked or bad Outdoor fan motor, low refrigerant charge, locked Compressor
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• Comp V Limit Error –
• High capacity load on the system but compressor is running below 780RPM although controller is trying to speed up the compressor
Unit will restart 9 times to try and clear the fault before showing the error code, each restart will have a 3 minute time delay before the next start
Causes – High discharge pressure, possible overcharge
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• Coil Temp Sensor Error – unit cannot read the resistance of
the sensor, check with Multi meter – Same curve as Indoor coil temp sensor
60 DegF = 16,200Ω
80 DegF = 9,300Ω
100 DegF = 6,300Ω
• Outdoor Fan Error – Outdoor fan motor is not operating
Causes – Bad Outdoor fan motor, Obstruction, check for 220V AC Output to fan motor from Outdoor PCB (Blue & Red)
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• OTP Error –
• Outdoor unit PCB has an incorrect or has lost it’s program
Causes – Bad Outdoor PCB, Mains Voltage issues
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• Comp Rotation Error (E467)
• Compressor is not running, will restart 3 times to clear the fault, each start will have a 3 minute time delay before displaying the error code
• Failure of BLDC motor rotation control.• Over load condition and unable to make enough torque to
rotate.• Or the sensorless position detection system cannot detect
rotor position during rotation
• Restart will be in 3 minutes but 3 times stop makes Error.
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• Comp Rotation Error (E467)• Cause :• Cycle Overload (possible overcharge)
• Mains Power voltage changes quickly
• Cycle load changed quickly
• Compressor is bringing liquid back
• Compressor locked or motor magnet demagnetizing
• PCB trouble
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• Comp Rotation Error
(E467)Compressor Motor Torque calculated from Pressure of discharge and suction

Outdoor Error Codes in detail• Refrigerant Leak Error – Unit will recognize that performance
and temperatures are not consistent with load or compressor speed
Causes – Refrigerant undercharge for specific line set length or a leak has lost refrigerant
DC-Link voltage under/over Error (E466)
Meaning :
DC-Link voltage drop or up with some reason during operation.
System stops the compressor immediately.
Restart will be in 3 minutes but no retry limit.
Error shown on outdoor unit only.Protection purpose : Rotation troubleCause : Power line voltage changes quickly. Power line disconnect during compressor running. Lightning surge noise. Compressor liquid back. Compressor trouble. PCB trouble.

Communication Error (E101, E202)
Meaning :
Unable to communicate between Indoor unit and Outdoor unit
for 1 minute. Cause : Communication line trouble. (Off the wire from terminal, snapping of the wire ) Miss wiring between Indoor unit and Outdoor unit Blowing the fuse in the controller. PCB trouble. WRONG OPTION CODE setting
Outdoor Error Codes in detail
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• I Trip Error – Unit current draw is too high, compressor will try
to slow down to reduce current draw, unit will restart 3 times before displaying error code
Causes – Indoor/Outdoor temperature changes, Low mains Voltage, excessive capacity load on the unit
Outdoor Error Codes in detail• AC Line Cross Signal Error – AC Line is checking incoming
power frequency 50 or 60 Hz
Causes – Bad Outdoor PCB, unless unit has been resold to a Caribbean beach hut!
• Capacity Mis-Match Error – Indoor and Outdoor unit do not communicate properly, possible mis-match of e.g. 18k Indoor Unit with a 24k Outdoor unit
Causes – Incorrect Option code flashed to the Indoor unit, reprogram the Option code at the Indoor unit, bad Indoor/Outdoor PCB
FJM Error Codes in detail• E161 – Mixed Use error code : One Indoor unit is programmed
for Heating, when other units on the system are operating in Cooling. System will not reset itself until unit with conflicting mode has been turned off
• E190 – Failure of Pipe Check : Check wiring/piping and addressing of the Indoor units
• E199 – Tracking is complete, ready for Pipe Check
• E201 – Number of Indoor units set on the rotary dial (Outdoor unit) does not match number of Indoor units tracked on the system
• After correcting these errors button K3 will reset the system
Warranty• Since 2006 units have warranty coverage of• 5 Years Compressor• 3 Years on all other Parts• 120 Days Limited Labor Warranty
• Parts are shipped out, usually on the same day using an ground service. This is dependant on a completed warranty claim form being received by Quietside
• The failed part need not be returned to Quietside unless specifically asked for
