Saucon Valley High School Marching Band
The 2019 edition of the Saucon Valley High School Marching Band proudly
presents their show Shades of Latin, highlighting popular Latin music. The band is under
the leadership of director Michael Marini, assistant director Bob Frey, drill instructor
Dale Hillegass, drumline instructor Chip Bachman, front ensemble instructor Steve
Roman, Color Guard instructors Cynthia Bordne and Sarah Gilly, and student drum
majors Martina Fedorowicz and Brielle Sklodowski.
Shades of Latin begins with the fiery opener “El Cumbanchero”, made popular by
Desi Arnaz. “El Cumbanchero” features trumpet soloist, Keith Kreschollek. The band
then slows down with the emotional ballad “Novus”, originally recorded by the Mexican
Rock band Santana. Novus features mellophone soloist, Andrew Propsner. Concluding
Shades of Latin is the Cuban classic “Malagueña”, made famous by the Stan Kenton
Orchetsra. “Malagueña” features trombone soloist, Evan Hawk, and a trumpet trio
consisting of: Martina Fedorowicz, Keith Kreschollek, and Benjamin Broadhead.
