SECCM LAB PURPOSE AND HIGHLIGHTSAugust 3, 2017
CONTEMPORARY EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING FACILITIES:
• Experiential Learning Labs in Computing, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering, and Construction Management.
• The return of HAWKWORKS, the Construction Management and Engineering fabrication space to campus
• Renovation of the existing SECCM facility provides additional general purpose laboratory spaces and classroom space for science and other programs.
SITE / LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS:
• The project will be well landscaped replacing existing trees at a rate of two to one.
• Creation of outdoor spaces for casual meetings and relaxation.
LIFE SAFETY UPGRADES:
• Development of a campus-wide Fire Pump, reducing the number of diesel generators, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.
• Sprinklers will be added to the existing SECCM building enhancing fire protection.
• An emergency backup power generator serving the adjacent academic buildings enhances area security and safety.
UNIVERSAL ACCESS:
• The project enhances accessible routes to and from FCAS and the southern campus.
• Removal of four exterior stairs, and eliminating steps up to FCAS allowing all members of our community to travel the same paths.
