How do plants spread their seeds?

• Small seeds• “parachute” or
“wing-like structure”
Spread by Water
• Seeds have thick shell to protect from waves and rocks.
• Buoyant so they can float along in river or ocean currents
Seeds Spread by Animals
• Small hooks catch on animal fur as they pass by
• Seeds are dispersed later as animals lick, bite or rub them off
Seeds Spread by Animals• Deer eat fruit • Seeds are not destroyed
as they move through the animal’s digestive system
• Seeds are dispersed in the animal’s poop
• Squirrels hide nuts each year but for the winter but forget where some are located
