Selecting Deer Resistant PlantsDeer damage has become more prevalent due toincreasing deer populations, real estate develop-ment and human population shifting from urbancities to suburban areas. While one of the bestinsurances against deer damage is a fence, a moreaesthetically pleasing approach would be with treesand shrubs, specifically those that are deer resist-ant. Tastes, preferences and digestibility vary with aplants age, stage of growth and time of year. Whenselecting your trees, shrubs, annuals and perenni-als be mindful that this list says “resistant” and not“proof”. Deer are living creatures whose appetiteis based more on survivability than that of words ina brochure.
