Cover Letter ExampleDear Potential Sponsor,
I am a junior at the University of Michigan studying English. I am applying for a publishing internship through the IES Dublin Summer Internship Program to further my love of travel and my passion for literature. Ireland has been home to a number of amazing writers. James Joyce, Bram Stoker, Jonathan Swift and Oscar Wilde are just a few. This country has made its mark on the literary world. I want to work in Dublin because of the city’s richly read history. Your company is one that continues to make the city a hub of creativity today. Though my experience as a research assistant I will be a good fit for your company's mission and add my unique perspective to the conversation.
Since September 2014, I have been employed as a research assistant in the U of M Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program. I work under the supervision of Dr. Colleen Conway as she conducts research on music teacher education and mentoring. My responsibilities often include library and database research, editing articles, and analyzing interview data. I am gaining techniques in editing, text analysis, and articulating written arguments. My research work with Dr. Conway has been an invaluable experience and I believe I have skills that will transfer well into a work environment. Research takes motivation and hard work, which are elements needed for any position.
I look forward to gaining real world work experience in an area I am passionate about and that additionally allows me to bring my skills to the benefit of a position with this internship. I’d like to request an interview. I am available from 10am until 2pm on Mondays and after 1pm on Wednesdays. I’ve also attached my class schedule,so if these times are not convienent, hopefully we can find another time to meet. Attached you will also find my resume.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,Natalie Steers
