Priming:AdultaudiencemembersattendingwithyouthwithAutismSpectrumDisordersandother

sensitivityissuesmayreadourguidanceandenvironmentalmappingbelowtoprepareforthetotal

experienceandexcitementatCTC.Thesetipsareforanyoneattendinganypublicperformancesonthe

UHGstage,notjusttheSensory-Friendlyshows.

Getting Ready:

•  ComingtoCTCcanbeaspecialoccasion,oracasualfamilyouting,butit'salwaysfun.Some

audiencemembersdressup,somedonot--it'syourchoice.

•  Youcanbringyourownfoodanddrink.Therulesarethatfoodmustbeconsumedinthelobbyand

notthetheatre,anddrinksmaybeinthetheatreaslongastheyhaveascrewtopclosure.

•  Whatelsecanwebring?Childrencanbringcomforttoysasneeded,aslongastheirtoysalsosit

quietlyduringtheshow.Youcanbringacameraandtakephotosinourlobbies,butnotinsidethe

theatre.Electronicdevicesmustbeturnedoffinthetheatre.

totheUnitedHealthGroupstageaswell,floor2.

Before the Show:

•  PeoplegatherintheTargetLobbybeforetheshow.

•  TheTargetLobbyoftenhascoatracks,placestosit,andfeaturesakioskwithshow-relatedand

educationalgiftsononesideandconcessionsontheother.

•  Tip:youcanpre-orderconcessionsatthe‘kiosk’(concessionsstand)beforetheshowtominimize

thewaitduringintermission.

•  Usherscanansweranyquestionsyoumayhave,includingspecialneedsrequestssuchasaudio

devicesforpeoplewithvisualorhearingimpairments,earplugsforpeoplewithAutismSpectrum

Disordersorothersensitivityissues.

Restrooms:

•  ThereisawheelchairaccessiblerestroomoffoftheTargetLobby,andtherestofthebathroomsare

accessibleonthelowerfloorofthetheatre.

•  Youneedtogothroughthetickettakingentranceanddownstairs.Thebathroomshavelotsofstalls

toservemanypeople.

Entering the Theatre:

•  TheHouseManagerwillmakeannouncementsabouthowmuchtimeyouhavebeforetheshow,

andwhenit’stimetofindyourseats.

•  Whenyouarereadytogointothetheatre,usherswilltakeyourticketsanddirectyoutowardsyour

seatingsection.

•  Youneedtotakemorestairstogouptothebalcony,ortogodownstairstoseatsonthemainfloor.

•  Usherswilltearticketsattheentrance,anddirectyoutotheappropriatedoortofindyourseats.

Therearestairsuptothebalconyandstairsgoingdowninthemainauditorium.

•  AccessibleseatingislocatedinRowOontheMainFloor.

•  Usherswillhandoutprogramsatthedoor.

•  Yourticketnumbermustmatchyourseat.RowsA-0areontheMainFloor;PQRSareintheBalcony.

•  Timetoturnoffelectronicdevices.Remembernophotography,texting,orphoneusageinthe

theatre.

Need a Break?

•  INTERMISSION:ThemajorityofshowsatCTChaveafifteenminuteintermissionbetweenAct1and

Act2.Manypeopleleavethetheatretousetherestroomsorbuythingsatthekioskorjusttakethe

opportunitytowalkandtalkduringintermission.

•  Thecrowdcanmoveslowly,andtheremaybelines.

•  Youdonothavetoleaveyourseatsifyoudon’tneedorwantto.

•  Duringintermissionthestagecrewisworkingonchangingthescene.Sometimesthat’svisible;

sometimesit’snot,dependingonthescenicdesign.

•  TheHouseManagerwillmakeannouncementsduringintermissiontoletpeopleknowhowmuch

timetheyhavelefttofindtheirseatsagainbeforeAct2.

Ifanyoneneedsabreakbeforeintermissionorhastroublesittingquietly,thereare2options:

•  THEQUIETROOM:TheQuietRoomisaspecialviewingroomonthe(HouseLeft)sideofthetheatre.

Thisroomissoundproofedandavailableforanyonewhowantstoseetheshowbutneedstomake

noise.EveryoneiswelcomeintheQuietRoom,includingpeoplewithspecialneedsandinfants.

•  THELOBBY:CTC’sTargetLobbyhasalargewallwiththeshowprojectedonit.Thesoundand

viewingqualityisnotequaltotheliveexperienceinside,butitdoesservethosewhowantto

continuewatchingtheshowbutneedtomovearoundormakenoise.

•  EXTRAHELP:Usherscanhelpwithtransitionsbetweenareasduringtheshow.

After the Show:

•  ThecastalwaysreturnsforaCurtainCall.Prepareforapplause!

•  Whenit’stimetoleavethetheatre,thecrowdcanmoveslowlyandtheremaybelines.Ifyouneed

towaitforthecrowdtothin,youcanwaitinyourseatsforafewminutes.

•  Thekioskandrestroomsremainopenaftertheshowforapproximatelyhalfanhour.Youare

welcometositinourlobbyandtalkabouttheshowduringthistime.
